When a buddy of mine linked this all to my Facebook, I had a total nerdgasm. I got a huge grin on my face and went into the bedroom to tell my wife (who wouldn't care, but I was too smiley not to tell someone). I went in all giddy and smiley, and she looks at me and asks, "Whats up with you, did you realize you got me my least favorite flowers for our anniversary and want to make it up to me?" I said, "Nope, Mechwarrior MMO! *squee*" She did not respond favorably, and I left the room.

In all honesty, since I stopped playing Mechwarrior 4: Mercs with the severe decline of the server population a few years back (That, and the FB Incident), and having grown up on Mechwarrior 2 and 4, I had thought it was a dead IP - expecially with the failure of the MW:DA IPO to produce a new game, and the end of the Inner Sphere as we Know It that occured with it. For that, I'm extremely happy it's getting a reboot, and extremely hopeful that this game will avoid the mistakes and pitfalls of MW4: Vengeance - Mercenaries.

After all, what 20-something doesn't wax nostalgic when they promise to do a big part of their childhood up right.

Best video game related thing to happen to me this year.
Though Zelda is coming later and will likely claim #1 spot just this announcement will be a close #2!

I rearranged my original Mechwarrior game through MechCommander and MechWarrior 4 game boxes on my shelf in giddy anticipation. Is that bad?
