Hey guys, I am just an oldschool mech guy who is mostly a casual 4-man participant but I do run in some 8 mans occasionally. The Aweome chassis is one of my favorite mechs and I would like to trigger some discussion here.

I have two Awesomes sitting in my mechbay right now.

My 9m is armed as a stock except I have replaced the XL 320 with a XL 325 to add 1 more DHS for a total of 21 DHS. Pretty much stock.

My 8Q+ variant has 3 PPC's and a Small Pulse Laser with an STD 290 and a total of 21 DHS.

I think in the lore the ER PPC's were added only because the DHS could make up the difference. However, in my experience testing these two mechs I can achieve much more success in the 8Q as long as I pilot it correctly and have proper support from my lancemates.

Could their be any solutions to this problem? I understand that if DHS were running at 2.0 it would make my vanilla ppc's never overheat so I can see why the developers are having trouble with it.

9M actually cools much better (35.2 vs. 28 heat sinks), but ERPPCs run very hot, and the 9M carries more weapons overall.

PPCs and ERPPCs are both getting a heat reduction, though, so it will become more manageable.

I think the 8Q is the better mech because it can boat better weapons. All the 9M has is speed. It's weapon hard points are crap.

I agree. The shared hardpoints in the center make it less boatable than the 8Q. The mech is also to large to get much of a lag/speed shield effect from a speed/brawler build and the XL makes it real squishy. I like to use the AWE's to ppc snipe or missile boat myself but I have experimented with the other uses as well.
