Hey Guys,

I'm just a noob here to this game, but a long time veteran player of the table top game. I just wanted to share my experience so far with the game and hopefully help some people out in their quest for supremacy!

I started out playing the trial mechs obviously and with the cadet bonus I quickly found I had enough to buy a jenner, a favorite of mine for a long time. So, I started out with the stock build and got to know my new beast. I found quickly that I really sucked. I couldn't figure out why.

I thought at first that I didn't have enough fire power, so I grinded to get an XL295 engine 4 med lasers, and 2 srm4's. I got rid of 2 jump jets, and about a 1 ton of armor. Thinking to myself "EFF Yeah Fire power!" a massive 40 (on a light mech that's nuts).

While i was doing more damage per round... I was also getting fragged faster per round and getting very few kills also I found the heat build up to be rather fast. Now maybe veteran could do better than I did with this build I will admit that but the funny thing is I switched out my med lasers for small pulse lasers and the srm4's for streaks and reclaimed so armor and jump jets...

My game has improved markedly since then. I have found the small pulse lasers use less heat and do "faster" along with the streak srm "fire and forget" function free me up to really pilot the mech to it's fullest weaving and bobbing and such and stay engaged in combat longer. It has made me harder to hit and my hits though not as powerful as before are more surgical. Not to mention the armor and jets save my butt alot.

About the only thing I might change out is a streak for an AMS.

So yeah that's my rant for now, any thoughts comments and concerns and pointers are welcomed, happy hunting!

Sounds like you've found a load-out that suits your playstyle! Congrats, and have fun, but don't be afraid to experiment with loadouts if you ever get tired of your current one.

(don't pilot lights myself, so can't really offer anything beyond that)

Welcome to crazy town!!(ie: The Forums)

Glad you were able to adjust the loadout to one that worked for you. Part of the enjoyment I get from this game is playing with loadouts, seeing what works and what fails miserably.

Good to see a new face enjoying the game.
