I recently aquired the Centurions and seems to me the arms come off to easily, especially the right one. I realize that the Cents arm is vital for its loadout and that taking it off would be my first target as well but this arm 8 times out of 10 is gone in first contact making it really nothing more than big armored light mech. I can see how many can be able to pin point this but it seems that even an accidental strafe laser chews it off. I don't know if it would be a hit box issue or armor hit point issue but many say the Cent is out performed, and I kind of tend to agree. I'm adapting to adjust my playstyle with this and get better performance each time. Can I ask you to please take a second look and consideration to the arms survival.

Thank you!

Its not because its easy to take off, its because everyone wants to take it off first thing. From my experience the best you can do is negate their ability to hit your right arm. By...

- only exposing your right arm when you want to fire then immediately swing the other way (make sure to keep decent armor on the left arm to soak this up!)
- moving fast! A slow centurion is easier to maneuver around to take its arm off (no less than 75kph)
- using cover and maneuvers to limit your visibility
- keep a decent arsenal in your torsos so when your main gun goes down you can still dish out decent damage instead of nearly no damage

I love the centurion. I can testify that the arms do get shot off fairly often as they only have 32 armor points.

They also have the advantage of having many hard points in the torso (except for the YLW). Sure if you build your mech around a 6-8-9-11-12 ton cannon you want it stuck on there like glue. This is just not how the game works. Missiles spread out and hit areas, lasers burn across areas and this causes the arms to take a beating. The arms of a centurion have a relatively high area in comparison to the small side torsos and narrow profile.

Good luck keeping your arms on, I would suggest getting an UAC 5 or LB-10X 2 tons of ammo and then focusing on packing weapons into your torso. If you lose an arm I'd make sure you're losing less than half of your damage output.

To echo some of the other posts, the CN9 arms are shields first and weapon-platforms second. It's better to lose the arm than lose the side torso and the arm. If you really must put firepower into your right arm, be sure to keep your left side facing enemy fire whenever you're not shooting.

I've learned long ago not to count on one hard point for a big gun cause if its lost your screwed. I keep my builds well balanced thru out. You gotta admit though while using these twisting tactics works in a 1 on 1, but if you find yourself in a frenzy the arm just seems to get grazed and and Betty begins bitching you lost yada yada yada. I can't count how many armless Centurions I've seen running around the field. Some of them coming out of a plume of smoke look like Zombies chasing you in the movies.

Yeah mate... if you're in a Cent, I aim for you arm. Cent are probably the biggest pieces of crap in the game - sorry to say, but I think you wasted your money on one.

You made my point in a nut shell with a little less grace. The arms kinda lack which is why I started this topicin the suggestions section. Asking the devs to relook at it to make a bit more viable.

I've stopped being graceful or eloquent on these forums. Direct and curt seems to get across better. ;)

That said, Cent arms are too easy to hit and their model is too large. They're a lightly armored, under-gunned Atlas.

a Centurion is a very maneuverable mech with a bunch of versatility. 3 good variants, and a hero. You need to be fast, work on getting good punch so you can stick and move. Stick and move.

My friend and I run centurions together, we both average 6-8 times our tonage in damage done, his high water mark which I haven't managed to best yet is over 900(18 times tonage) in a CTN-9A. It can be done.

Part of why the arms always get shot of is because you always hit the arms on a cent. Heck, they always seem to turn their arms into my lasers when I aim for the torso. But I agree, cent arms should have a little bit more armor. If it's true they have 32 (don't play cents myself) they should probably be increased to 36 or 40.

I think it's also probably because of how they are used by many players. A lot of players seem to play them like brawlers, but they're simply too lightly armored for that. I think they shouldn't be played like an undergunned atlas, they should be played like an overgunned cicada, kinda.

I know the devs still run across the occasional thing that isn't working as intended and this was my attempt to bring to their attention possibly another one of those things. Quite a few poeple agree that the Cent is a bit weaker than expected so I thought a second look might be warranted. Lets hope they find something cause this thing is kinda ;) to run until its arm comes off  .
