Hi Friendly experts,

I am having a problem adding some more armour to my 49 ton CN9-D. Currently I have 304/338 standard armour. When I am in the Loadout screen and look at armour distrubution three are componenets that have room for more armour and the STD Armour to the right is green like I should be able to select it, but I can't seem to add armour. I cannot drag and drop, cannot double click, nothing.

The componenet specifiation does not have any red text and says I should be able to add an additional 32 points in the 1 ton available. That would give me 336/338.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Screenshots would help immensely.

Some things to note- the front armor and rear armor for your three torso sections has a shared total. For example, If you can have 100 armor in a left torso, and you have 60/100 in the front left and 40/100 in the rear left, then you've reached the maximum for that section, because the two values are combined.

Can you screenshot your mechlab? Can you tell us exactly how much armor do you have in EACH section?

Yeah, I didn't read closely enough. You can't do anything with the 'standard armor' item in the slot, go to the armor tab

Select the Armor Option (4rd choice on the top)
Select the Section you want to add armor to (Right Arm)
Press the Up/Down icons to add/remove armor to the section. Right next to the armor #

Note:
As mentioned Torso segments are split front/rear. The combined value cant go over the max.

I would add screenshots but I don't have the client available. :(

They really need to add something to the UI (maybe coming in UI 2.0) so that the division between front and rear and the total armor for that location is easier to see and understand. Currently it's very confusing, esp for new players.

To be honest, most of the game is confusing to new players. UI was not their strong point, but it is getting better. :(

It might be this: you do not drag armor to your mech. Use the up/down arrows to adjust the amount per section of your mech.

Since it's a CN9, you'll have one useless arm. Remove all its armor and use the weight for something else.

The "up arrow" is very touchy.. you have to be near the bottom of that button, along the wide side, for it to register.

The green "standard armor" just shows what you can put on, but you don't actually do anything with it like you would other items. There's a counter to show if you have some in stock, and if not you'll buy it automatically (pop up window, price goes up in the bottom right, etc etc). Adding or removing armor is that window between the mech and that item window, all the armor locations are listed with their current/max.. click on the section you want to modify there, and just above that list will be the up/down arrows and some other info.

And I don't recommend doing what focuspark suggested.. that arm still protects your torso from the side.. leaving it exposed is a good way to lose that torso faster, which exposes your core faster.. or kills you if you're running an XL engine. Maybe have it softer if you need more armor to protect guns/etc, but don't strip it bare. That's just my opinion.

I thought sniping with PPC is pretty hard, but honestly I feel it's even harder pinpointing that up arrow so you can increase the armor. Come on, go up damn you!
