I'm SO sick of every game or every other game being a camp fest now. Everything is ranged.

Premades just sit and camp and with the PPC buff it's worse than it was before.

No one wants to move, they just want to wait for easy kills or for their teammates to meatshield.

It's seriously detracting from the ACTION part of the game and dragging out already unnecessarily long matches (start up is so long I have time to MANUALLY create VIDEO play lists in VLC, read email, etc). It's adding to grind where definitely there is enough (too much really) already.

Irony? There's a half dozen threads in this forum complaining that ECM makes it a closed range combat only game. <sigh>

i allready suggested this before: Make a King Of The Hill like mode. One base in the middle of the map. Make decaping possible and maybe even put in a limit for effective capping.

So what i mean is:
If there is only 1 cap point on the map, both teams would have to move there and fight for it. Sure, you could camp and spots where you can target that area to prevent it from being captured, but if you camp you are immobile and the enemy can get arround you. If one team refuses to move, well, the other team will just cap.
The second point is: decaping! Don't make the only possivle way to actually defend or prevent capping to run into the capzone like a ******. Shooting a caping mech should erase all cap points for this mech.
And finally: Cap Limit: 1 mech will have a certain cap points / second. The second mech will double this, maybe even the third one tripple it (based off of 1 mech). The fourth mech would just do nothing. So you won't have everyone tardrunning into the capzone so you cap as fast as hell. You would want to have Heavyily armored mechs in the capzone and the other ones arround it to defend those more armored mechs in the middle.

i think the primary problem is the fact that now indirect fire is all but gone. before lrm kept people from getting too comfortable in one spot. with ECM lrm have largely been abandoned so now there is very little risk to hiding in one location.

Sound good, they would have to make it a larger point then the current stuff of course, maybe give some over while in the point so your not getting hit form far away so much.

Really? ECM whining?

How does a thread about a new game mode have anything to do with ECM? I've played plenty of games where LRMS worked quite well. ECM is not the end-all, there are more ways around it now.

This is not a troll. It's especially prevalent on Assault maps (which are my favorite since capping gives jack **** in the way of rewards).

I find it depends a LOT on the map. In River City, it's common for the team starting at the plane to base camp and snipe everything because it's a very easily defended location. Caustic Valley mostly becomes a big brawlfest in the crater. Frozen City tends to become a brawlfest and/or trench warfare at the ship, and Forest Colony tends to become either a mixed brawl in the hills or a sniping battle in the lake.

Of course there's large deviation but I see this in 1/3 of games for RC and Forest Colony, and nearly always in Frozen City and CV.

You could gather up a few friends and make a team build that highly discourages this type of play by smashing it to pieces with a better counter strategy.

wow as soon as ECM is mentioned it automatically gets labeled as whining.

i was making a basic point:

LRM keep players moving.
ECM has reduced the number of LRM on the field.
therefore now we have less movement.

^^that was all i said.

grow up and actually read the comments that are made.

I find that it's a little bit of both. Matches start as a waiting game. It's a campfest until someone becomes overzealous and break cover for too long, dying. Then everyone comes rushing in for the final brawl.

ECM is rainbows and ponies. Suggesting it as anything less is whining.

i like ponies!

that seems like a very accurate description of the current gameplay. as an srm catapult pilot i tend to be the one that breaks the stalemate in the matches. sneaking behind and (hopefully) murdering a rear mech that is not paying attention.

LONGTOM

that would definately help.

although i think we need bigger maps for those to work, unless they are just used as some sort of abstract artillary support that has no in game position.

Arrow IV would also be a big help.

I'm talking about a Longtom akin to what we had in MW4.
