I noticed none of the videos feature footprints of any kind. I hope the idea of mech tracking doesnt die out.

I agree. I've always been disappointed with games that have tracks, footprints, spent casings, destroyed trees and environments and fallen units disappear.
It takes away from the realism the game provides. I understand this taxes games, but I hope we see at least some of this stay in this game.

Anyone else remember back in mechwarrior 3 how easy it was to track mechs on desert maps just by fallowing there foot prints. I think this is a good feature and I would like to see it implemented as well.

I hope someone follows the footprints until it reaches a dead end and is then DFA from a jump jet-equipped Heavy mech

MWLL has them, but only lasts few seconds then dissapear
seems like engine have troubles creating permanent decals without high performance drops

Sounds like a great option for higher end PCs to be added sometime after launch.

The important question then becomes: Do we leave footprints after a DFA?

DFA's remind me of Ignignokt and Err from ATHF where they're fighting the Gorgatron (after it steps on and crushes Err)
Ignignokt: "He said 'no', Err... with his foot."

While they are nice....not all systems can handle it. Leave them as an option. (Tho if I got to do DFA...I would love to see my Mech's footprints in the target's chassis)

It's a PC game. Kind of commonplace for video settings the be capable of being disabled.
We just want to make sure that such a disabling never provides a player with an unfair advantage.
A game a while ago had the ability to disable smoke effects, which rendered the "blinding" of smoke grenades moot. Don't want something like that in MWO.

Luckly this is the reverse scenario, disabling them would put you at a disadvantage since you would not be able to track.
