tell that to stock/ cannon mechs, they're all being made redundant because of things like this, so many creations.... rendered pointless.

Nope. The reason stock/canon mechs are redundant in MWO is because mechs run way hotter than in tabletop. The stock mechs which are optimized for the tabletop heat system are no longer optimized in MWO.

There are a decent number of stock mechs that use Artemis, the Cent 9D for one.

I'd like him better if he quit playing with Artemis and got someone to do something about ECM.

Artemis is supposed to be compulsory for missile boats.
No it isn't. That's why we have Narc beacons... and Semi-guided LRMs 7 years early.

Garth said there was a "small change to ECM" coming in February 5th's patch.

Just don't get too invested in that, as he said, anything can change.
Probably just the PPC thing.

grouping looks way too tight - wait until the complaints drop on the forums.

I believe that grouping is with Artemis active.

Modification to NARC would be good as well - right now, there's a useless addition to weight and take up a valuable ammo slot.

No, if you'll check the rest of that thread, the context was talking about further changes other than just the PPC buff. So what Garth's comment really means is that there is a small ECM change planned in addition to the PPC changes.

But we'll see come the 5th.

small change to ECM - it now blocks IR signatures to hide ECM equipped 'Mechs to make it more in line with the Sarna.net rule here as it was deemed to be too underpowered for the massive cost and weight the user has to sacrifice to employ it:

The Guardian ECM Suite was introduced in 2597 by the Terran Hegemony[1]. Designed to interfere with guided weaponry, targeting computers, and communication systems, the Guardian is typically used to shield allied units from such equipment by emitting a broad-band signal meant to confuse radar, infrared, ultraviolet, magscan and sonar sensors.[2] Affected systems include Artemis IV, C3 and C3i Computer networks, and Narc Missile Beacons. A Guardian can jam a Beagle Active Probe (or its Clan equivalent), but the probe-equipped unit will be aware of the jamming. The Capellan Confederation expanded the utility of the Guardian even more with the introduction of Stealth Armor.[3]
The greatest drawback to the Guardian is its limited range, which extends out to only 180 meters. Sensors can sometimes override this jamming, though by that point the enemy unit is already within visual range and can track the opposition with their own eyes.[2]

Awesome, we'll have fewer lrms hitting the ground when shooting up a hill now with those missiles packed more closely together.

You can also see the new missile door light "bars" that are coming, neat!

I wanna know if the missiles will spin the opposite direction if I play from Australia. If not, that's breaking my immersion and I DEMAND a refund :P

I love the new look. I am so sick of my LRM 60 launches looking like a giant X.

I wish they would have shown how the new configuration makes turns onto a target. If you've watched the original grouping turn, they remain in a tight formation as they spin downward and then level out to chase the target.

It is possible that LRMs may need damage reduced from 1.8 to a lower value. The primary reasoning for increasing LRM damage to 1.8 was the volley spread if that is not a factor then maybe the damage should be reajusted to match new performances.

LRMs and SRMs have increased damage values 1.8 from 1 for LRMs and 2.5 from 2 for SRMs both values were tweaked to address volley spreads.

Oddly enough most weapons systems have their effective damage halved by doubling armor while LRMs only lost 20% damage from doubled armor values.

cool design. but not all mechs currently have circular indicators. wonder how they are going to work those bars in. prolly have have to make some texture changes to the cockpit model
