Anti-Missile Systems require ammunition. Make sure you've added AMS Ammo to you mech or the system won't work.

note that all weapons and most equipment (such as AMS) can only be placed in a specific section of a mech that contains a matching HARDPOINT.
This is the mechlab training video, so start with this: https://www.youtube....d&v=EDKDAyEHr1Q

I removed 1 med laser and a small laser
and added AMS and AMS ammo. It says the tonnage is correct5 and let me save the changes but i cant drop into a game. It says Invalid loadout-hardpoint limitation.
I dont understand what i did wrong. I added the AMS to the correct hardpoint slot. Forgive my ignorance

Could be a glitch - try to restart the client.
Edit: also make sure you added AMS to the side torso that has AMS hardpoint.

Of course, I recommend looking at Skunkworks to pre-design your loadout to save on c-bills.

Use http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab to build out mechs before you mess around in the mech lab in game.. on the left of that web based builder, it will tell you how many heatsinks you have and will be red if you have less than 10. This site also helps you know when you need endo steel or double heatsinks or ferro armor to fit your build, so you don't get lost in the mech lab in game (you might have to pay for certain upgrades before you can fit the gear you want). Also, the total price is listed, as configured, so you can save up enough to build the whole thing at once once you buy it. I've been re-using engines, so I take those off the smurfy build to see what I need to save up for that rig, since engines are damned expensive and I don't like owning the same one 4 times over

Which is exactly why I picked this name.. one time, long long ago, in PlanetSide, I made a toon called CmdrPoopyPants just to run a different skill tree (sniping instead of flying vehicles that my main was more focused on). One day in chat someone said "there's nothing more embarassing than being killed by someone called poopy pants"; I got quite a chuckle out of that so here I am
