I had similar problems with the bindings on books from that era. A pal of mine who is a book collector reccomended to me that I keep soft cover books like those stacked on their side rather than standing as you normally would with a book. Being pressed like that takes pressure off the not so great binding and helps support it.

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I'd point out that Battletech is still being published and released and the current holder of the license, Catalyst Game Labs, does a lot of Epublications. You can find all the current Technical Readouts for sale from the official site here. Currently 3025 and 2750 have been joined together in the 3039 Technical Readout, which if you can get for cheap on Amazon. It includes a lot of mechs from that area that aren't in the TRO because they came out in supplemental and other material. The 3025 book is good if you're looking for Unseen artwork though.

(PS: If you want print books and PDFs Catalyst Game Labs does a lot of bundle print book with PDF sales too.)

As far as quality of writing and general awesomeness 3025 is hands down the best with 3058 a close second. I thought 3050 was great, but both it and 2750 suffer from being too short on the fluff writing.

I love to play 3025 and 2750 tech level. I lost most of my TT BT stuff long ago (thanks mom and your garage sales of my old room's stuff), but I managed to pick up those to TRs along with a very good condition CityTech box set and a good condition 2nd Editon BT box set plus a Compendium and a Manual on ebay all for less than $100. My kids are dying to play with me this summer. Should be amazing.
