Three questions regarding CASE and ammunition.

1. If I put CASE in the torso, will it cover the entire torso, or just the section I have placed it in?
2. If I mount an XL engine, I can be destroyed if I lose my side torso. To cause an ammo explosion, you have to do damage to the internals where the ammo is located. Is there a point in having CASE in the side torsos at all if I am using an XL engine?
3. Let's say I buy 5 tons of LRM-15 ammunition for my Catapult. I have 450 missiles in total. Will each of my racks consume 2.5 tons of LRM ammo, or will one rack consume 2 tons while the other uses 3 tons?

You should only need 1 case for one torso. The rest I dunno.

1) CASE should protect all ammo stored in the Torso where the CASE placed

2) In a tactical sense, no, CASE won't save your engine (CASE II might). But in a strategic sense CASE will make your mech repairable instead of being turned into a smoking crater if your ammo booms. Not sure how this will matter in MWO

3) Each rack will consume ammo as it is fired, there are no restrictions on same weapons sharing ammo bins

If you mount an XL engine and your side torso is destroyed the mech shutsdown. Not destroyed, it's quite salvagable.

My planned Catapult variant is quite expensive (14.1 million C-bills), so if adding CASE at the cost of 1 ton of ammo or a C3 Slave means I have to pay less for repairs, I'm down for that.

An ammo explosion from the LT/RT will gut the CT as well, which effectively turns the thing to scrap. Better put a CASE just to be safe.

Thats a fair trade off, CASE is 1/2 ton, so for 1 ton you can split the ammo between torsos, hopefully reducing the chance of a crit

Its still TBD how MWO will handle critical hits and especally XL engines, thats something I've always seen as a bit weak in previous MW games (the XL engine)

To be honest, no one but those in the beta can even tell you if XL engine side torso destruction puts a mech out of commission, it's extremely likely that it does, but seeing as how PGI has stepped away from the TT rules in a few spots, who knows.

All that being said, if it turns out that side torso destruction with an XL engine puts your mech out of commission, it's likely that having a case system installed would stop the damage at the side torso, meaning you may only have to foot the bill for repairs for that side, instead of having to repair the entire mech when the CT explodes like a hand holding a firecracker.

I was just pointing out that your mech should be out due to LT/RT destruction if you have XL engine, but that doesn't equate to destruction. Only destruction equates to destruction. That's cannon for you.
