How does mastering and selling mechs work, if I want to keep 1 mastered variant? Do I have to keep the two extras (elited of course) while I master the third that I want, or can I sell them once they are finished with elite?

Once all are on Elite, you can sell two and master your last one, but you must have Elite status unlocked on all three chassis within the specific weight class to get to master.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but didn't want to do something stupid.

Note: you do not have to own all 3 mechs at the same time, though it does make things easier/cheaper in most cases, however in getting my Atlas to Master, I only owned 2 variants at any one time.

1. Owned 3 Stalkers (5M, 4N, and 3F) and maxed out all of the Elite upgrades
2. Sold the 5M and 4N and Mastered the 3F
3. Owned 2 Atlai (DDC and D) and maxed out all the Basic upgrades
4. Sold the D and then bought the RS and maxed out all its Basic upgrades
5. Elited & Mastered the DDC in one final visit to the pilot lab (had nearly 100k of XP to spend from playing it so much since the beginning of Open Beta) and sold the D

Nearly all of that was done on Premium Time btw (bonus XP and CB).

You need to own 3 variants of the same mech to unlock elite.

If you had previously reached master level on a mech of the same class, you can then sell two variants and keep only the one you look forward, so that you can elite and then master it.

I mastered my Atlases. When I bought the Awesomes (3 of them, but I wanted to keep 9M only), I put all the basics on 2 AWS-8 series and then sold them off, kept only the 9M and reached master.

I noticed that you do earn XP with trial mechs now. You just can't spend it on perks till you actually own it.
