How can people possibly still be discussing this?

Simple. Is a short fat guy always lighter in direct proportion to height than a taller skinny guy? Hell no. Why the hell would it be different with mechs? Rhetorical question. Answer? It wouldn't. Height is not the only dimension. Get it through your skulls.

BTW, OP, if you're still reading this. I know nothing about architecture, and even I know that commercial buildings are not 10' per floor. That's a myth. Office building are generally right around there if measured on the inside from floor to acoustic tile false ceiling, but there's considerable space between that ceiling and the next levels floor.

after playing a few games, and looking at the mechs, it seems the assault chassis appears to be on the short end of the stick ;) nuff said!

I like to support the OP with a simple example,

A CAT is a smallest of the Heavy Mechs if I am not wrong....

A STALKER when standing right next the a CAT looks almost the same size !!!!

Go figure that out !

PGI really needs to admit that mech size is not proportional and fix it.

in real life, a 'large car' is heavier than a bigger 'midsize SUV'.

no such thing as dimensions proportional to weight!!!

I stopped reading around the end of page two, but it occurs to me we have a means to measure the actual height of anything. Jump Jets. our mechs jump capability is measured in meters. so I just started up the game and set up some jump mechs. I first made my raven 4X jump 10m since most mechs are supposed to be about that tall. in game I was flying WAY over the top of every mech even Atlas. so next I pulled out all but a single jump jet giving my raven a jump of 5m. I also set up a Trebuchet with a jump of 6m and tested them both.

BOTH the 5m jump raven and the 6m jump treb could go over the head of an Atlas on level ground. so I think this confirms our mechs are too short unless the jump distance is not reliable.

PGI doesn't care what we think about scale. They've said there not going to change it. No use talking about it.
I wish they would fix it. I have actual list of mech sizes. There scale is pathetic but its there game.

Its going to take alot more then 300 votes. It would take a rallying cry of the community. And frankly this community doesn't have what it takes with all the complaints right now about netcode, ECM, and a blatantly unbalanced unfair MM being the primary source of hate.

well some mechs are fine in terms of size but others are too damn big comparing to other mechs
like hunch cent and treb seem to be too big
on the other hand stalker should be a bit bigger... like hell its slighly larger than catapult which is 20 ton lighter

Standards of Architecture in 3050 may not apply to Architecture now.

Therefore your OP is irrelevant.
All the mech are to scale to each other and thats all that matters, because really, the landscape is by far the most unrealistic.

Thats about 50-52ft give or take a few inches.

Now a a standard commercial building will be 10 feet tall on average per floor, making the Atlas about 5 stories tall...


Then the scale is about right. View from the seat of my Awesome 9M, which is a fair bit shorter than an Atlas. This is with the view centered, I come up to just about the fourth/fifth floor. I just think the funky 31st century building designs make it hard to judge building height accurately.

15.9m = 52.165ft , kept thinking all these years that the Atlas was about 35-40ft tall. but 52 feet its as tall as King Kong! :D you think a Raven could kill Kong ;) Posted Image

Catapult is GIGANTIC compared to its actual weight. You can easily mistake a Catapult for a Stalker. And this should not be the case. They should fix mech sizes compared to weight

There are two 70 foot buildings... they are kinda BIG don't ya think? You'd need some big buildings/cities to squeeze atlases thru there
