Why would any one want infantry when the only survivable weapon hit from a 'mech you could survive is perhaps a tenth of a second of flamer, or a couple body shots of machine gun fire?
Precisely that!
Would be pretty thrilling. I know this is a pipe-dream, but I'm still curious to see what others think.

Any battle armors would be cool. Elemental (year 2868), Gray Death / I.S. Standard (year 3052), Cavalier (year 3058), Fenrir (year 3060), Raiden / Kage / Kanazuchi (year 3055-3058)

While ban OP was a little more harsh than the "NO" I would have used, infantry can wait until way down the line. Too many things that need to be addressed first. (collisions, maps, weapons, ecm, etc).

How about playing as infantry after death instead of spectating?
You can get an inferno launcher or manpack PPC.
I think it'd be hilarious.

At most I think if infantry was added to MW:O in the future they would function like persistent (i.e. they keep attacking and just don't go boom) landmines that can move around a bit; if that makes sense.

Yes it would be much further down the line if it were to happen.
The environments would need changing, a new type of player_controller would need to be made so it acts correctly, camera scaling (possibly a ton of scaling issues actually, including textures), HUD elements.
However its fun to deliberate these things
