I've noticed this a lot lately, when I fire LRMs (after having a lock for a couple seconds) the just arc through the air and go where the target was standing without even following it's movements - as if I just aimed and fired without the lock. Sometimes it's happened when I switched targets right after firing, but mostly it's during LRM bombardment, and I have artemis too. Anyone know of an issue that would lead to this, or have you experienced similar?

When you fired the missiles did have a full lock? I've released my missiles just before full lock and lost all my missiles for that volley because I rush the shot. Also, are you keeping your lock all though the shot? LRMs need a lock the whole time the missiles are in the air to track their target. They are not lock, shoot and forget weapons. Also, I don't believe Artemis works unless you have mine of sight as well as a lock.
Does this some any problems or explain anything you might been doing wrong? If not, explain with more details what's going on and we can try to help more.

I know Artemis needs LOS, I was under the impression that once you have a lock and fire, that's it unless you lose the target altogether. That's what I remember reading anyway, unless they change it. And yes, as I said, it's after I've had a lock for a couple seconds.

I use LRMs a lot and, besides losing lock on my target, my missiles seem to track. LRMs you need to keep the lock on the same target and maintain that lock the whole time till the missiles hit. If you break lock (selecting a different target our losing the missile lock itself) then the missile will no longer track and will go where they last had a lock. It kinda sounds like you just aren't maintaining the lock till the missiles hit to be honest. Is that what could be happening?
Encase I'm confusing the point, what I mean is you have to R target someone and get and keep the red missile lock the whole time the LRMs are in the air for the missiles to track and reliably hit their target. (didn't think I was clear which lock I was talking about before)
Could this be the problem? If not, any more details you can provide? I can't think of anything else right now that could be the problem without more information.

That could definitely be it. When did that become a requirement?

Umm... as far as I know... always? Though, I jumped in right before ECM came out. It might have been different before hand for all I know. Just keep the missile lock on one target to get the guided missiles to track, unless of course you loose that lock, or a better target comes up.

The way it's worked thus far to the best of my knowledge is to lock, fire, and you have to maintain the target but not keep the crosshairs on it. That was actually specifically stated by one of the devs, I'm just not sure when it was stated.

You don't have to keep your cross hairs on the target, but if you lose your missile lock (the red circle) then the missiles stop tracking. This much I have seen. One of the most effective ways to not lose your missile lock is to keep your cross hairs on target the whole way through, but as long as it's close, it's normally good enough. I've been known to shoot LRMs at one target in the background, and my Lasers at a nearby target charging me. Two being hit for one. I think, though I don't know for certain, was that you got confused between the lock ( R )and the missile lock (red circle).
