That is for you to decide, but srm6 has much higher kill potential thanks to the bigger damage.

Artemis also gets disabled under enemy ECM

right now artemis doesn't really seem to do much with any of the missile systems.

though there are changes coming to missile behavior with artemis equip.

ya the heat for srm6 is higher you can last longer in a brawl with 4s but they tend to do alot less damage

SRM4 is less heat and less ammo. It's also less spread than the 6 to begin, and Art gives it even more accuracy. 6 is more potential damage (especially if you go point-blank). Those are the main things to consider, really.

do you notice a difference using artemis with 4, it seems that the damage is about = with the 6, im hoping the improved accuracy helps with damage placement, but i dont want to put 750k into it if its not worth it.

Pick a better mech, preferably one that doesn't involve a suicide run in to the enemy and spraying missiles randomly.

I prefer not using Artemis; I find the weight (6 tons on an A1) would be better served with a larger engine, heat sinks, or ammunition. Besides; without knockdown I just run right up into people's faces anyway.

This.

I actually use a mix of 6's and 4's in my splatcat, jumpjets, heat sinks and a bigass engine. Get into their faces fast, enjoy fun JJ tricks, and better heat management. 4's fire tighter and faster, so while their total damage is lower it tends to be more focused. With both, you still deliver a crushing barrage at close range, and at longer ranges you've still got a center-weighted spread.

I find where I relaly benefit from Artemis is that it extends the range of my tight grouping. On my Atlas I went from 3x6srm to 2x6srm + 1x4srm and added Artemis and I've got about an extra 50-80 meters range I can get a solid group on target. Without it you need to be face-humping to put enough missiles on target to make it worth pulling the trigger. With it I can be out to about 150 or even 180 and still get most of the 16 missiles on target.

I consider it worth it. Now, if you're a 'hump face, pull trigger' SRM boat then get the extra missiles. That's 24 points of damage you'd give up to drop all 6s to 4s on an A1.

the hump helps with mediums, so many you can one shot, however being able to put one or two slavos while closing would be nice.

Moving this topic to the Battlemechs sub forum, where it is more appropriate.
