If I could vote other well. I would like to see a bit of a mash up. Redwood forest with a long abandoned and overgrown urban area. With buildings overgrown with foliage that have large enough damaged spaces for 'Mechs to move through and hide in. Streams running down eroded alleyways into a subway system beneath partially collapsed streets. (Could not actually enter the subway) Boggy park, square or Quad that spills into some nearby buildings. Would need to be a large map with a solid mix of heavily wooded and very mixed elevation urban areas. Environmental effects could include shifting mists and/or clinging fog limited to certain parts of the map.

Those are some nice concept pictures, even if some seem a little too "high sci-fi" for BattleTech. I would love to see map designs get a little more alien. I do realize that many planets valuable enough to be fighting over have been terraformed to some degree, however there might still be strange rock formations, differently colored plant life and strange moons in orbit. Or a gas giant with rings if the battlefield is on a moon.

All in all i really think the maps need to get a lot bigger.

I have another idea, how about a map that takes place at the bottom of an ocean. There could be sunken ships for cover and ridges and sea mounts for terrain. Perhaps ships could pass by on the surface above. Ballistics could do half damage or have half the range to represent the increased density of water compared to air. We'd need torpedoes instead of missiles. Probably a pipe dream but I can hope.

Jungle Outpost would be very nice if it had a larger river crossing the map at its center, with each team on its side. The surroundings of the main river could be more open with scattered buildings to provide direct fire cover from the other side (mostly like the concep art itself). This game needs a tropical jungle map.

redwood forest is what i have been hoping for (besides metropolis) trees you could use for cover but that can be easily flanked as well



imagine a raven walking along a huge downed tree, with lush vegetation all around. it's AMS starts spinning and shooting all of a sudden! it's an ambush!!!!

this is what i would use as a setting for a battletech movie.

edit: not to mention you could use the cryengine to it's fullest (eg. Crysis 1)

Crap all of them. Variety is the spice of life and I like all of these :P. Though the IS isn't building warships yet so the Aerospace hanger shouldn't have one under construction. Be cooler to see rows of Stuka's or Corsairs. But just way awesome pictures.
