this was originally an answer to a poll in the general discussions...

since i made that suggestion a while back by using a ticket, but never bothered to post it here, i´ll do it now:)


"... kind of a ripoff from rainbow six vegas2 multiplayer

each team has 1 VIP (commander)... each VIP can see the enemies VIP on the battlegrid, everyone else can´t...

goal is to kill the enemy VIP and protect the own..."

addition: especially in 8vs.8 (12v12) this would give a lot of tactical possibilites, and afford a good team coordination

Sounds interesting, with some modification. What you are talking is a normal MP game mod.
A more battletechish setting would be: Headhunting
One Team has a VIP, the other team has lower BV and lower tonnage and all they have to do is to kill this one.

this is another possibilty, yes, but why not both^^

i know from many games (such as APB) that there is always ONE VIP... i think it might be more interesting to have one on both sides, who can see each other... that was a great novum back in the days when RS6:V2 brought it up, and i loved it... plus the difference to the other MP VIP modes is, that only the commanders see each other, and only on the grid... usually the whole enemy team can see the mark of the VIP across the whole map, and that´s boring :blink:

it gives endless possibilities and a whole different dynamic to the matches... you could shape it more "battletechish" i am sure..

like your idea as well :(

VIP on both positions... do you remember the novel Impetus of War by Blaine Pardoe
On team are still the headhunters - their mission tho behead the enemy command and control by eliminating the VIP.
Because it is very difficult to defend a BattleMech - i seldom had problems in TT to take the target down -
So there must be a victory condition for the defending team - that is not "Destroy all Attackers"
Can you imagine how you want to defend a single Atlas DC when your company is attacked by 4 Raven L?

So maybe there should be a VIP in the attacking team too.
