so in other words, nothing that will break the boredom of the same routine combat that has been around since the holidays. Maps > Camo. Community Warfare > Hero Mech. Achievements > End of Round summary screen.... :D

Yes, but all those things take WAY more time and effort. Obviously we will get easy things sooner and more frequently than hard things. Hero mechs are super easy to make, it's all existing components and a special skin. CW is a huge effort but Hero mechs are a relatively simple affair, so obviously we will get lots of hero mechs while CW continues to go through a much, much longer development period.

  • We started developing MWO in the summer of 2011, with full production beginning in October 2011.
  • We went Open Beta 1 year after full production started.
  • We have a team of 43 people working on it daily, not including IGP staff.
  • CryEngine is a renderer and a level editor, we had to write all of the backend architecture, customer support tools, website, money management, analytics, etc. etc.
  • The average feature takes betwen 1-4 months to complete before test.
  • Levels take a 7 person team 3-4 months to make before test.

A seven man team and 3-4 months of effort per map. Luckily we will be getting a new map this month and another new one the following month.

Expensive-*** permanent color unlocks are supposedly coming tomorrow. ;)

Quote

Patterns now have three pricing tiers:

Free
Standard - 75 MC for single use and 750 MC for unlock.
Premium - 125 MC for single use and 1,250 MC for unlock.

Colours now have four pricing tiers:

Free
Basic - 1,250,000 CB
Standard - 500 MC
Premium - 1,000 MC

Somehow, in the future, a coat of paint costs 3-4x as much as a mechbay. :P

I can't wait!

Don't forget you will be refunded all the CB and MC you spent on paint and camo. If you want to return to the same paint, write down or screencap your current camo spec! You will of course have over 100 new colours to pick from after the patch, though, so you may make different decisions for what colours to use next time.

While I do appreciate your thread every time it comes close to patch day, appreciate the work you do of gathering the information, and I appreciate PGI doing regular patches, please don't suger-coat the point I'm trying to make. The last signifcant change was a new game type. How long ago was that? I didn't particularly like it, but it was something completely new. For a time, every game on Conquest breathed life into staleness. It actually didn't matter quite so much they were all on the same maps. You actually got to play on different areas of those maps that never saw the light of day before. I realize different teams in PGI do different things. But, and just my opinion, but a point hopefully being made, is that more resources should've been poured into map-making. There are plenty of thread about maps. In one I voted Quantity over Quality. And, it has also been suggested more than once to allow players to create maps. If that isn't doable for some reason(s) that's fine, but PGI should try and communicate that. Also, more resources should've been put into some kind of reward system. Once Pilot Skills and Modules unlocked and the mechs bought, there isn't anything to look forward to except the combat. I know there are many that are still enjoying it, but the battles are the same, I don't think many could argue against that (but they will).

Are you sure CB will be refunded, because in the developers update it says only MC will be refunded for earlier paintjobs?

Actually, this is one of the rare occasions I publicly commend them for a job well done. There are lot of other (far more important) things I'm not satisified with but that's another issue. This one they made good. :D

Yep, Mechs with MC paints will revert to their stock green color / pattern.

It would be nice if the devs started to take cash for new maps. Then we would get one each patch. That would make me start spending cash on this game.

I have zero expectations for this patch (I have become wiser).
