1) Practice Range - Allow players to move through a practice range similar to what MW units use to sharpen their skills. Will at least let them get the basics for moving the mech and trying different load outs.
2) Lobby System - Have channels where players can go to ask questions, get help from veterans/moderators and then see option 3.
3) Selective Matchmaking - Allow players to drop against each other 1v1, 2v2 ... 12v12 (eventually) without any rewards (C-bill/Experience). This will allow units to train new players, practice tactics and allow for a metagame via League play i.e. NBT, outside of MWO until the developers can fully implement one.

I'm sure there are more ideas and other threads that have covered this topic before. Without going into what balances (ECM, weapons) and so on that I feel would also improve the experience, these are some changes that I at least feel would directly improve new players experience and also provide ways for veterans to play realistic meaningful matches even if just in scrimmages/practice with one another or in a league providing metagame.

Agreed, but with all the pre-made hate and other toxic topics going on I just hope something positive will stay at the forefront as some of these issues will alleviate at least our units current and total morale failure and lack of interest in the game. A way to even just play against friendly units in scrimmages would be heavenly, let alone a league. I also wouldn't mind helping new players learn the ropes as I REALLY want to see MW:O succeed. It's probably my favorite game/genre of all time.

Any more ideas we can add to the list? Maybe PGI will listen and hopefully implement some of it. I know and trust that they have a keen interest in MWO succeeding as well... :P The only way to do that is to keep the existing community active and to draw in new players.

The more frequently a developer hears an idea, the more likely they are to make it a priority. Also, because these ideas are directly linked to new players, which means more money out of the game, it is essential to improve these aspects. If you have an objection about an idea, please be constructive and contribute.

Ask the Dev's 30:

Q: Is a lobby system being looked at so that players can join selected matches, organize matches based on previously established teams (i.e support for ladder/league format fights), drop matches that are other than 8v8 or 12v12 (like 1v1 if decided, 6v6, 5v5 etc), see which map they are going to drop on so they can plan appropriately etc?
A: Lobby is on the board, but not a high priority yet.

Q: is there plan on a in game chat lobby if so any idea when this will be put in.
A: Yes. Later this year.

Q: Will you implement a real trial ground map in game, where players could learn how to maneuver and shoot without having to take into consideration enemies or his teammates?
A: This will come in two parts: Testing Grounds – an empty sandbox level with dummy targets, and Private Matches.

Sorry, must have missed that one. Still, hopefully they can move it up rather than later this year and maybe someday. There are some definite pressure points that need to be alleviated and soon.

Yes and a feature that is slated for 'later in the year' is usually one that will slip and fall further and further back until suddenly it's next year and the year after.

A proper lobby system should be massively high on their priorities.

If that requires a topic thats been "beaten to death" to be posted about again, well TOUGH.

The truth is the only way to have any effect on this game is have massive 'threadnaughts' until the devs are forced to reprioritize.

These are all no brainers. The Community has been talking about these things a long time.

Yes and their response is only a placating gesture. Later in the year is just a way to say "Well we are thinking about it, but don't plan to spend any dev time on it any time soon"

Actually, that's probably not fair as later in the year usually means it's already been discussed and some thought/man hours has been put into it. I'm with you 100% in that the more people we can get wanting this to be a high priority the better.

I agree which is why I'm surprised we haven't seen a faster timetable on them and why I'm asking people to continue to post and try and get as many people behind what others and myself have already suggested so that it does become more of a priority. Let the community get more involved, such as helping bring in new players and developing a league of their own/metagame. This will help buy the devs some time and room to properly implement more content, mechs, maps, metagame of their own.

All are great ideas. I'm just a little torn on the priority they should have.

Want me to change up the polls to say High/Medium/Low/None Priority wise? Given the Devs see it as features they will be implementing (didn't see the Ask the Devs 30), it may be more accurate?

Already planned for later on. Right now they're working on getting mechs and maps out the door for balance tweak purposes.

Would help so much. Combine with ingame VoIP so PUGs can all talk to each other.

Leagues, ladders, and private match support are planned for later.
