I just got out of a pug match. The end game report is a real mystery to me. I had more damage than the rest of my team COMBINED! How can this be? How can 7/8ths of a team suck so bad? Can anyone explain this?

They are new and not on a team of any kind.

Because the skillgaps in this game are tremendous.

Sometimes it seems like half the team doesn't even have a pulse, let alone be able to hit a moving target.

No mystery. They either sucked, were spread out so were picked off one by one, went into the enemy one by one, you may have had an afk'er(screenshot would tell us better if that might be the case), you faced 2 4 mans, you faced a better team, etc. Those are just some of the examples off the top of my head.

Yeah, but the closest one to triple digit damage had 80 points. I must have been the the victim of a cruel twits of statistics or something. It was really bizarre.

Quoted for being most probable explanation.

Also what's the point OP?

Trying to point out that premade organized Teams are better than PUG Teams? That's exactly the point PUGs make when they say they are tired of fighting against Premades. Just to inform you.

There was a time where I had over 450 damage in a raven and I was the second highest damage dealer and we lost. Sometimes the matchmaker can be unduly cruel. Until PGI resolves the skill issue we are probably going to be seeing a lot more of this.

To reference another game, even a terrible Level 30 player in League of Legends is better than a starting Level 1-5 (most of the time >.>). Once we start playing with and against those of equivalent skill and tonnage I imagine even when pugging it'll feel like a partial premade as everyone is able to coordinate better and make fewer mistakes, even if some of them are poor players. I mean, hey, mix bad with bad and good with good.

Best is when you out damage/kill more than your team in a commando/Raven/Cada... (Did this before ECM came out).

Simple... elegant and poignant.

At this point all my snappy retorts fail in contrast...

You win. :)

The one that makes me scratch my head is when I do double the damage of like three players on my team (200-400) all of us have equal XP but I am last in the list. If we all have the lousy luck of having 100 XP after getting stomped, shouldn't the damage done count for something?

Out of curiosity, what were you driving and in what config?

Imo you were probably in a high dmg conf (SRM Cat, CTF 4X, SRM / LRM Stalker, etc.), combined with (possibly) a mix of new players and 1 or two early focus fire from the ennemy team (or plain lucky headshot/ crit).

I know that while I average 200-400dmg per match (with highs in the 7/800), I have had my moments at 60dmg when testing a new mech/ configuration, bad timing on a overheat in front of a bad crowd or simply an early lucky (for opponent) crit/ head shot.

It happens, it's the life of the Wild Pug.

I wasn't implying anything. Just wondering how such a lousy team got assembled. It defies the laws of probability.

Its open beta and you should expect a lot of new players. We all sucked when we first started. However if I see a guy in a tricked out Atlas get less damage than me in a Cent than I have to wonder......
