Sometimes it seems like half the team doesn't even have a pulse, let alone be able to hit a moving target.

No mystery. They either sucked, were spread out so were picked off one by one, went into the enemy one by one, you may have had an afk'er(screenshot would tell us better if that might be the case), you faced 2 4 mans, you faced a better team, etc. Those are just some of the examples off the top of my head.

Yeah, but the closest one to triple digit damage had 80 points. I must have been the the victim of a cruel twits of statistics or something. It was really bizarre.

Quoted for being most probable explanation.
Also what's the point OP?
Trying to point out that premade organized Teams are better than PUG Teams? That's exactly the point PUGs make when they say they are tired of fighting against Premades. Just to inform you.

To reference another game, even a terrible Level 30 player in League of Legends is better than a starting Level 1-5 (most of the time >.>). Once we start playing with and against those of equivalent skill and tonnage I imagine even when pugging it'll feel like a partial premade as everyone is able to coordinate better and make fewer mistakes, even if some of them are poor players. I mean, hey, mix bad with bad and good with good.

Imo you were probably in a high dmg conf (SRM Cat, CTF 4X, SRM / LRM Stalker, etc.), combined with (possibly) a mix of new players and 1 or two early focus fire from the ennemy team (or plain lucky headshot/ crit).
I know that while I average 200-400dmg per match (with highs in the 7/800), I have had my moments at 60dmg when testing a new mech/ configuration, bad timing on a overheat in front of a bad crowd or simply an early lucky (for opponent) crit/ head shot.
It happens, it's the life of the Wild Pug.

I wasn't implying anything. Just wondering how such a lousy team got assembled. It defies the laws of probability.
