I have been following the development of IGP's other BT game, MW: Tactics; its focus as a CCG (and potentially a TCG down the road) makes it quite distinct from MWO. One of the elements that has been announced publicly is the idea that weapons will come with a variety of different bonuses based on the rarity of the card acquired (see this post in the MWT public forum).
And that brings me full circle back to MWO. I recall a forum discussion from several months ago regarding possible "side-grades", but I would like to refresh the discussion in light of what MWT is proposing.
In gist, I am proposing that various choices (with trade offs) be made available for different weapons. Not upgrades, but side-grades. For instance, have a PPC weapon variant that uses less heat but fires at a shorter range; a ppc with longer range but higher heat and so on. The choices would make the game more interesting IMHO.
I am proposing that all side-grade options be available for purchase with cbills, as well as MC. No pay to win possible even if one side-grade may prove slightly more advantageous than another when used in conjunction with other weapons creating synergistic bonuses...
