I wouldn't mind some smoldering sizzle after a blast to the hull.

The AC20 is going to remain unchanged, while the smaller ACs will rock you less in upcoming patches.

The AC/20 is one of my favorite weapons. It's just about perfect as is.

Close-up it should knock you right over like in MW3, IMO. I'm patient though, I'm sure something like that will come in due time.

It just needs the sounds to be 2x as loud.

Every other MW game you could hear that beastie bark from a long way away, and you KNEW someone was having a bad time.

I've proposed this a long time ago. According to TT rules, there should be a 1 out of a 11 chance, roughly 8-10 percent to knock a mech down due to a shot from an AC/20, or if more than 20 points of damage is taken from a barrage of PHYSICAL impact fire (AC/20 or more than 20 LRM's hitting you in one spot at the same time).

If the DEV's incorporated a knockdown, and it was based on your mech weight, whether you were green, average/regular(all basic skills filled), veteran/elite (all elite skills filled), or master (at least one mastery skill on your mech), and also incorporate physics into the format, you could come up with a knockdown percentage change. Get hit with 1 shot from an AC/20 or 20 points of damage in one location (Dual Gauss hits, 2 linked AC/10 hits, 20 LRM's to one location) you would have a certain percentage to resist knockdown. Fail and you fall, succeed and you stay up. Double AC/20 shots to the same location, the chance doubles.

But I do agree there should be a knockdown factor.

When AC/20s get knockdowns, we get a return to Dragon Bowling.

Except there's no Dragons, only K2 Cats.
And they can knock you down from 270m away.
And you die faster.

Yeah, if it can't knock you're poor Mech over, it should be extremely loud. I'd say 3 times louder than it is, it should really cuase fear in anyone nearby. And if it hits your Mech, it should make the meanest Metal crunching sound you can imagine.

For every action there is a reaction meaning if you want more rocking on the enemy mech, you'll also get one hell of a recoil on your mech.

Yes it should. If an AC/20 hits you. You should have to make a piloting check. And if you fail you should get knocked down.

Im running a cicada most of the time and i vote yes.It should be louder and hit harder but nothing should be able to have two of those like the catapult its no fun to get killed from one shoot, in the first 20 second of the game.

Only if it's on a chassis that should actually support the AC/20. Wang, Hunchbacks, the Atlas - mechs designed to be able to handle the recoil of firing that massive cannon. On those mechs, the AC/20 should be a lot better. It's nowhere near as effective as tabletop because what makes the AC/20 special there isn't the damage, it's the fact that the damage occurs in a massive burst in a single location and often blows it completely out. I'd gladly have half the firing rate to double the damage and make it actually work properly.

But you can't do that, because you'll buff the mechs that should never exist, like the AC20Cat.

AC/20 shots still hurt hard, you just need to make your shots count. A Hunchback-4G following an Assault mech is terrifyingly effective. (AC/40 cat is about equal to TT AC/20: x2 Armour, x2 Damage)

Wait for the Clans and their Ultra AC/20 if you want faster recycle.
