Ok, newb Q # 437 :D

When I select my training mech, I can't seem to find weapon locations. I want to group arms together with similar wpns, but they are only listed as 'types', not locations. Is the only way to get in the TA and fire them to see what hardpoints they are on?

Thanks!

Your weapon menu in-game has a space between arm weapons and torso weapons. It's a small gap. Anything above the gap is arm, anything below is body.

Yes. You can fire them ingame. There is, sadly, no actual place to do anything with your mech (set up groups, test heat, etc.) apart from ingame.

I think you ultimately have to figure that out in game but this might help. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/

And I continue to learn new things. Thanks DegeneratePervert!

Wait...did I just thank a degenerate pervert?

Arms have a o reticule and torso has the + reticule

In the weapon loadout info on the bottom right, you will see the arm weapons are in a block with an o next it and the torso weapons are in a block with a + next to it

Which trial mechs have you been running?

Yeah, smurfy's builder is awesome for seeing what weapons are where on a mech chassis. It's the one thing I hate about the in game buy thing, it just tells you how many hard points and what types, but you have to buy the mech to see where things can go. HUGE flaw in my mind, especially since there's a web based app that is millions of times more intuitive and helpful (including weapon ranges/damage/heat gen, etc etc etc.. and cost for things like engines!.. saves a lot of wasted cbills!).

But I never realized what the 0 and + were in the weapons loadout thingy in the bottom right in game. Can't believe I've not figured that out after all this time! Especially since they match the crosshairs! .. though, I don't use that feedback since I've not been worried about grouping based on that.. I try to build them on frames that will do what I want, then I just group things as I intended.. like all my lasers together, but they're on arms because that's how I built it.. and all streaks together because their location is immaterial, I want them all fired at once. But with trial mechs or builds using hardpoints I don't like (like a mix of arm and torso lasers.. ICK), that info will now be invaluable.. Thanks guys!

Arms are listed under the ---- o

Torso weapons under the - +

Also, on your 'Mech's reticles the weapons also aim for those specific crosshairs.

With the exception of one Cicada, every mech lists these weapons by RIGHT to LEFT, TOP to BOTTOM. In torso weapons, head and center torso gets listed, then right torso, left torso.

o -- Weapon (right arm top)
Weapon right arm bottom
Weapon left arm top
Weapon left arm bottom.

+ -- Head weapon
Center Torso weapon
Right Torso weapon
Left Torso weapon
Crotch Chainsaw.

You can't edit a Trial Mech, thus you can't access this data. My suggestion is to just not worry about it and play until you can own one. Then you can see this data in the Mechlab when you edit a Mech or location.
