Hail fellow Clanners!


I recently read through Rudyard Kiplings "The Law of the Jungle" and "The Law of the Yukon" by Robert William Service and thought " Why not have a Law Poem for the Clans?" The term Mech' refers to mechwarriors and the term mech refers to the mechs themselves, if that makes sense. So here it is guys hope ya like it:

Now this is the law of the Clan
Watched under Kerensky's stern eyes
And the Clanner that keeps it shall Prosper
But the Clanner that breaks it shall die.

As the light mech that races to capture
The law runs up down and back
The Strength of the Mech' is the Clan
The Strength of the Clan is the Mech'

Watch always for Long Range and Missiles
Shoot quickly but don't overheat
Remember the ECM switches swiftly
Remember the Flamers burn sweet

The Missileboats may shoot from afar
But Mech' when your battles are many
Remember to race to him fast
And his damage reduced to a penny

Remember to fight with Honor
The Zellbrigen demands this of us
But if Inner Sphere fools break this Honor
Destroy the worthless scum cuss

The Homeworld of the Clan is their shelter
Remember they defend it hard
If you intend to take it over
Bring a hundred Mech's in your Guard

The Council speaks and the Mech listens
Those who do not, are cast down
The Khan speaks and all listen
Those who do not, will die out

When you kill one enemy be silent
Do not cheer yourself in your play
Lest you forget your position completely
And your mech be focused and slain

When a trial you face out of Grievance
Ensure that the council has Heard the cry
So the Clan loses not in it's resource
And so Clanmates do not have to die

When a trial you face for Position
Ensure that with Honor you fight
And know that if death is your lot
That your genes die not with your life

When the trial you face is for Bloodright
Think hard of the name that you keep
Lest it's owner soil it with betrayal
And your head all your clanmates seek

When a trial is called for Posession
Think careful and bid low as you can
Lest the battle ensue, and the losses accrued
Outweigh the gains of the Clan

When a trial you face for Refusal
Remember the past and beware
Lest your sibclans devise vile betrayal
And the Clans be caught unawares

When a trial be called for Abjuration
Fight with all of thy might
Lest your clan be abjured from the roster
And you lose all your clans might

When the trial of Annihilation be sounded
Stand firm and kill all that you can
Lest your clan and your genes die among you
And you be the last of your Clan

Among the voices of Council
Remember Mechwarrior, keep still
Lest your voice anger your elders
Or the Khan call for your voice to be stilled
-
When the Council comes forth,
and in Anger they shout raucous cries
Let the Oathmaster stand and call SILENCE
Let the Khan and saKhan then abide
-
When a question of history or Law be disputed
And none know the answer to name
Let the Loremaster be called in and questioned
So the Law may be made plain again

With the castes of thy clan ever remember
Though Warriors hold highest sway
That their fellow castes may have knowledge
Which even the Khan should not cast away

Waste no resource or gene in folly
Remember their preciousness plain,
Lest the clan lose all that is theirs
And be diminished till no Mechs remain

Remember the Star League and Kerensky
Remember our purpose is plain
We will one day return to Terra
And produce us the Star League Again

Now this is the Law of the Clan
As Mechs watch over and stand Tall
For no matter the Mech or Clan
Those who refuse Clan Law shall Fall
