Its for the extra heat sink you can fit in to the engine.

Wow together with energy weapon heat reductions AWS is going to be an energy workhorse. I can't wait to take my 8Q on a ride.

the jump from 290 to 300 is huge, due to the extra 3 crits you save (for the extra engine heatsink slot). Basically any time you can put an engine at a multiple of 25 rating, you gain efficiency relative to all other engine ratings. It's one reason the Jenner beats the Raven for pure build efficiency (ECM aside, the fast Raven being capped at 295 is really painful, even if there were no actual speed gains).

extra slots is all I get, I still have to provide the tonnage for the bigger engine and additional sink... they could have gone to 320 at least

I used to run mine with 325XLs or 350XLs in CB. The 300 isn't a big enough jump to warrant going XL IMO, it'll be interesting to see what we can do with them though.

290 to 300 makes a big difference when you're trying to stuff DHS into the engine. That bumps you up to the next tier so you can fit one more heat sink into the engine.

They're also making the Awesome more maneuverable (primarly torso torn value and speed)

agreed, speed is what we need, not more slots for heat sinks... the heat buffs for ppc's are supposed to take care of that... please buff to 320-330 at least!!!

300s are the best engines for all around efficiency. Speed can be found on the 9M and PB.

Hardpoints are too good on the 8R to go throwing a real speed demon engine in there. The 9M and PB would have nothing to let them stand out beyond a paintjob and some really Dragon-esque random hardpoint locations.

if the max size it can now have is 300, doesnt that mean it should be able to go up to at least a 320 or 325? and besides, the engines being uped isnt so much for speed but more so... so you can fit more HS in the engine to better be able to use those PPCs and larger lasers.

9m can go 385... I'm not asking for 385, just 320-330
