Now that per the patch notes we now know that pretty baby has 1 ams, 3 missile, 3 energy hardpoints. This would be a decent amount of firepower IF one of the energy hardpoints wasn't wasted on the head, resulting is being able to bring only 2 Large energy weapons. It already has the lowest number of hardpoints for any assault mech but additionally has one of them limited to ML and MPL (the only useful 1 slot energy weapons for an assault sized mech). Also consider that you have one large torso mounted energy, one small head energy, and one large arm energy. having any two of those on the same fire groupwill give convergence and/or range issues, this is more a minor problem but still an issue non-the-less.

Obviously the big bonus for Pretty Baby is the ability to use a 400 size engine. The 9M can have a 385 (I believe) engine but supplement this with either 6 (3 large, 3 small) energy 1 missile or 4(3 large 1 small) 3 missiles (admittedly 2 missile are CT points) giving it MUCH better flexibility and firepower with only a minor 15 point difference in engine size.

I currently own every awesome but the 8V and if they do not either move the head energy to LT or RA or add another missile or energy hardpoint there is no chance I would take the pretty baby over the 9m except to slightly gimp myself and be a slightly better Cbill farmer. I'm sure some people will make it effective but I will just laugh at them as I core out their massive side torsos and blow up the XL engines for an easy kill in my 300 STD engine awesomes or stalkers.

I do not have any illusions that they will change it seeing as no other mech to my knowledge has had hardpoints changed after being announced, but I will spend my money elsewhere which is a shame because I was really excited for a hero awesome to add to my collection.

Edit: Happy now??? lol

I haven't been impressed by it's hardpoint layout either, not conductive to two-weapon-group firing mode as used by many mouse users.

with the energy hardpoints spread across arm/torso it not effective to group them, and again with the missile hardpoints, it's not effective to group them . I don't want to have to deal with 4+ weapon groups for a mech, and overall it's weapon loadout options seem to be severely restricted.

haven't been impressed with any Hero mech yet.

I agree. The PB's hard point layout is a disappointment. The larger engine is nice, but using a 400 will further gimp your firepower. Meh, not sure what I'm gonna do.

Did you miss the ilya? I have one and it is the best (arguably) cataphract available and has so many interesting specs available to it. apparently FANG with 4 arm based enegry points is pretty nice too. Other than those two yeah every other hero mech has felt like a nerfed hardpoint version of the regular variants.

@OP, for the love god please put in some paragraph spacing!

now to topic, putting the fastest possible engine, while useful in light and some medium mechs, really starts to hurt heavies and assaults because those mechs are supposed to use that tonnage to armor and weapons. Its just a tradeoff only you can justify based on your perceived role with such a mech.

Exactly, it restricts it to JUST basically an assault scout with the firepower of a medium mech. if it had more hardpoints you could try downgrading the engine to fit more firepower to make it like a regular awesome but with 30% Cbill bonus, OR you could be an assault scout (but with more lasers).

The 9M's HPs were a design error already - considering 4 HPs in CT for 2 slots.

But this gets topped by the ridiculously bad HPs the Pretty Baby has. I won't even start comparing to Stalker's HPs...

6 HPs for 80 ton mech is a bad joke already, but one energy HP in head...come on.

I had planned buying it because I love the Awesome, but not with these bad HPs.

It's a shame. But hey, it saves me some MC and lots of grinding (for the other Awesomes I'd end up grinding in order to master the chassis). :)

So it's basically counterproductive to the 30% c-bill boost it provides, since you'll probably be 30% less effective when piloting it compared to a 9M. :)

The 9M seems like the loser in this patch. It gets torso angle/twist speed boost, but a turning rate nerf.

a whopping 5%, yet a 10 degree torso twist angle buff and 10% twist speed. still seems like a solid plus to me

and here i thought and was in fear this will be the first MC i will spend cause i love the awesome...but now i will settle for the 9M which is still much better.

If they had given it an ECM i might have considered buying it...but like this? a fast and useless mech?

HP are a joke...

the 9M still reigns superior to your pretty baby and just the camo and the 30% CB bonus wont make me buy it...i rather take the much cheaper Ilya...but thats not a mech i really want, but the best hero mech you can buy so far.

Yeah the Pretty Baby is a nerfed version of the 8V (one less energy hard point). Which is silly, considering they are asking 30 bucks for it. How is it every hero mech with the exception of the ILYA and FANG are terrible. ANY ONE WHO READS THIS DON'T BUY THE PRETTY BABY, JUST SPEND 7MILLION C-BILLS ON THE 8V INSTEAD. You have been warned....

I think you mean Flame, although the Fang isn't terrible imo.  I think I'll buy the Wang instead.  At least it has a funny name.

There is nothing to like about the PB.

I'm an Awesome fan, and so I was excited about this mech. Consider me disappointed.

Does the person who designs the hardpoints for these mechs actually play this game? This hardpoint config would require no less than four weapon groups. Not a winner.

I think you guys are saying FANG...when you mean FLAME, but I'm bummed about the Pretty Baby. I like Awesomes, but it would take a great Hero Mech layout to make me wanna spend $30 on it. Guess 8R and 9M it is.

I thinks it's "pretty" neat.
