According to this, it costs 750MC to unlock a pattern permanently for a -single chassis-.

The most you can own of any single mech (unless you're buying dupes of the mech over and over) is 5. Slapping an individual premium pattern on each one is only going to cost you 625 MC -max-. Why in the name of tapdancing Christmas would we spend the 750 to unlock a pattern for a single chassis unless we plan on changing our paint schemes like a high school girl changes dresses for her junior prom. This is just plain silly.

PGI, think with your noodles. 750 MC should unlock the camo pattern for everything. If you insist on breaking it up, make it per weight class. 750 MC to unlock a camo pattern that works on all assault mechs, or all medium mechs. Not this per mech basis. That's just dumb.

Because if you want to CHANGE the pattern to a different pattern and change it BACK to the premium pattern, you'll want the permanent unlock.

The individual unlock is a one-time just like the old system.

Players also have the option of applying a single use pattern. Single use applications are permanent until a change is made by the player.

The thing that I do not like about the change is this...

We now have 130 colours, good so far; now the problem.

From the thread quoted in the OP there is one free colour Basic Green, then the 5 other basic colours will now cost 1.25 million cbills so the remaining 124 colours will cost cbills.

I hope that I am wrong, but I cannot understand why the basic colours are so limited and do not even include black and white.

Some people grind up several variants of the same chasis to master so for those people, it's nice that they can use the same pattern for each mech and pay for it once. I've got 3 Stalkers, 2 Catapults, 2 Hunchbacks, and 1 each of some others. So for those that I have multiples of, I can paint them the same and pay only once.

I don't know about you, but I'm going to find a scheme I like and stick to it. I don't need to change my dress every week.

You could pay 750MC to paint your 3 Stalkers, or you could pay 375 MC to paint all 3 Stalkers, as long as you stick to your decision. Derp.

You edited your post right before I was about to respond to say the same thing.

In any case, I'm more happy that you get universal paints, even if you don't get universal patterns. I'm happy to buy a half dozen colors, then wait a bit longer to see more mechs and more patterns before deciding which to get.

I agree. Your camo doesn't mean squat when I flip to IR. Save your money and purple tiger stripe for future Solaris play. What's next, people with money to burn spray bombing their KDR across their rides chest. I vote more real content, less cockpit bling nonsense and useless paint options.

don't buy the 750MC one then. unles u plan on switching skins 10 times.

just get the 75MC non perm. even if you switch out of the skin 8 times, you still wont have spent as much as buying the permanant one.

on the other hand. camo patterns have always been 750MC and they used to be non permanant for any chasssis.

so either way you look at it its an upgrade

That's what I'm saying. It's absolutely silly and it makes no sense. PGI isn't going to sell that option to anyone but the indecisive.

Keep in mind that it's for the Chassis, so if you have 3 or 4 of the same one like 4 different Stalkers, the perm pattern can be used on all of them. Granted it's still pricey, especially if you wanted the Pattern on more then one Mech Type.
I was considering getting the Phraken for my Atlas and Cataphract, but I'm not sure I want to drop 1500MC for that, so I might just go with dropping 150 and only having one variant of each have the paint job.

I think this is a bad move as well. I have not bought any cammo patterns because the price is silly and now it is slightly less silly.

You generally level up mastery and then get rid of the unwanted mechs, so who would pay seven bucks for a this unlock? Unless you really can't decide and switch constantly between a couple patterns, which would mean you are spending 14 bucks plus on cammo for one mech type...silliness.

PGI I want to give you my money but under this system I will still hang on to it. If I could unlock a cammo for all my mechs for seven bucks I would buy them all in a heartbeat. Let common sense prevail and fix this. Let micro transaction be micro. If I bought one cammo unlock for all of my mech types I would drop 42 bucks, will I do that hell no. I can't see my mech anyways so really I'm just adding variety to the game for other players.

1250 MC for account wide unlock please take my money. Then release a new cammo every month and keep taking my money.

EDIT-Oh ya and I have three hero mechs so unlocks even make less sense to those that are spending money!

Or people who just want to collect the skins.

The difference is: The Single Use Pattern is exactly that: Single Use. So if you change the pattern to something else later it is gone for good.

Whereas the unlocked pattern is permanent as in reapplyable if you changed the pattern after initial purchase.

It is VERY possible that the 'basic colours' will be expanded to cover more than the just 5 or 6 there is currently...

Because they've had many, many people tell them that is exactly what they want to do. From the sound of it, Community Warfare is supposed to have people knowing where they will be fighting before dropping. Many people said they wanted to be able to customize their camo patterns/colors for individual environments. So PGI developed a system that would allow them to do this.

According to the post, it's 130 new colors, not total colors.
