Since IS-Shop only sell IS-equipments and clans dont sell their equipments to IS. We need a way to get the clan tech. And the idea i have here will get your servers fill with players.

Requirement:
  • Place for the battle between Clans and IS mechs
  • Well programmed AI.
  • Market for selling mech and equipments
Scenario A:

A group of ca. 16 players attack clan dropships. The have to kill all defending clan mechs and the dropships.
Or defend a city against clan mechs invasion, Kill all clan mechs or keep them away from destroying city structures for ca. 15 mins.
Clan also own IS mechs since they invaded the IS, so you can use IS mechs with Clan techs aka. IIC mechs.

Lost - players gain xp and few C-Bills.

Win - players gain xp, C-Bill and Clan tech!

Droprate:
This is only a rough thinking for droprate

Clan mechs
  • Light - 10 %
  • Med - 7 %
  • Heavy - 5 %
  • Assault - 1 %
Clan equipments
  • Small - 20 %
  • Medium - 10 %
  • Large - 5 %
Blackmarket
Players can sell their equipments (like Clan mechs, C gauss, C ER lasers etc.) here for C-Bills or maybe MC is you want.

well thats my idea but since you are fully busy with programming the game here is my other scenario:

Scenario B for the lazy devs:
Put a drops bonus for the Winners in Assaults or Conquest with the droprate above and tell them they fight for a crashed clan dropship or for clan equipment depot.

absolutely love this idea.

it would also support the implementation of salvaging loot like had been discussed a while back.

I'd rather see Clan being completely separate from IS; as in you had to pick a side to fight on. With IS never getting Clan equipment. Then when you dropped you'd never know if it was 8 IS v 8 IS, 5 Clan vs 5 Clan, or 8 IS vs 5 Clan.

Yes, Clan tech is better but they should need to fight by more difficult rules. Clan should also use honor and not c-bills as their currency, with honor being easier to lose for misdeeds on the battlefield.

Also, despite lore stating that the Clans wtfpwnbbq IS, in MW:O real people are piloting the mechs and the Clans are not supposed to dog pile a single target like the IS pilots do/will. I honestly think the money making mechanism for Clans will balance their superior technology.

@ focus

bad idea because everybody would choose the Clans and nearby nobody would stay at the inner Sphere if their Mechs would be so worse.

but i like the Drop Idea

I wouldn't. I hate the Clans... I think they're the most stupid concept I've pretty much ever come across. The only thing they have going for them are a few very cool looking mechs. The entire concept of an army traveling deep into space to somehow comeback and conquer a territory it abandoned due to political dissent is... well, it's plain stupid. Either the army will attack the civilian government or it won't... armies do not go into hiding for a few hundred years before deciding to overthrow the civilian government.

Anyways, Clans will happen so my opinion on the matter is moot.

What I was saying is that it should be harder for Clanner to generate Honor per Match due to some of the rules they need to abide by.
  • Don't attack 'mechs smaller than yours (unless they attack first)
  • Penalties for attacking 'mechs already claimed by mates (ie no dog piling a target)
  • Penalties for losing your 'mech, especially to "inferior" IS pilots
What this means is that as a Clanner you cannot just shoot anyone. You have to be picky, but the IS pilots your fighting don't give a **** about your rules and that Atlas fill face **** that Nova while it's trying to fend off the Jenner and Hunchback. All while the Mad Cat pilot is trying to duel the Catapult pilot, but the Catapult pilot is pulling in sniper support from his friend 800m away.

Clan tech will be better, but their tactics are ******** and since IS pilots can pretty much do as they please it'll be fair.

I'd love to see the salvage mechanic expanded greatly, even with Inner Sphere 'Mechs.

We need more carrots on sticks - players love rewards for playing. Expanding salvage with loot for rare, improved weapons ie

Clan tech

unique Inner Sphere weapons like a Defiance B3M Medium laser which provides a bonus like +1 damage to armor, but creates +.5 heat over the standard medium lasers. Normal mech sensors would pick it up as a standard medium laser on the target readout, Beagle active probe would identify it as a unique medium laser.

After a battle a MechWarrior has a chance to receive a salvaged chassis if they made a kill. Salvaged chassis can be opened by basic techs for free and provide a random amount of c-bills. Hiring advanced techs with MC or large sum of C-bills gives a chance for boosted C-bill earning, or the chance for a unique weapon, or in the case of a clan Chassis, salvaged Clan tech.

In order to install Clan Tech on an Inner Sphere chassis, the player must purchase a module that takes a module slot that allows the installation of Clan weapons/equipment.

In all likelihood IS mechs will never have access to clan tech. Too many game balance and canon issues.

Probable scenario:
  • Players will choose an IS faction AND a clan faction.
  • IS mechs and equipment will be bought with c-bills
  • Clan tech will be bought with something along the lines of "Honor" points.
  • C-bills are earned by launching with IS mechs.
  • Honor is earned by launching with Clan mechs.
  • Both IS and Clan mechs will have trial versions.
  • If you launch with a clan mech you will be teamed up with other clan mechs vs IS mechs
  • Clan mechs will be outnumbered in matches (probably 1 star vs. 2 or more lances)

I have to agree here this would be a great way to incorporate some familiarity with other mmo's and Clan mechs/weapons are a major part of the MW universe there tech is what keeps them on top...

Not to mention you guys are and should be incorporating Factions at some point for faction wars, you could have the faction armaments and mechs be earned preferably not over long term or short term but some were in the middle from faction battles and yes as drops preferably player specific drops NOT just OMG EVERY ONE BUM RUSH THAT DROP!!!

That or after the battle along with your exp but i kinda like the idea of drops on the field to be honest. Plus they could be a part of the solo missions that are to be incorporated at some point... preferably rare in solos... well rare in general since they should be better then there basic counter point.
