When i click on the 'Patch'-Button, the patcher moves on to the 'Starting Patch'-state but will not proceed to actually patch the game.

System restart has not helped and since i just made a fresh install yesterday i'm not very optimistic that a full reinstall will solve the issue...

Any ideas, someone out here who have or had the same problem?

Edit:
I found the reason for this issue:

During the installation of the game i've set the temporary patch file folder to my data harddisk because i don't wanted it to be saved on my system SSD.

But the patcher has not saved this path and tried the standard one which was never created during initial installation.
So my guess is that the patcher simply cannot handle a nonexisting path. Posted Image

I suggest to fix the patcher so it will save the path entered during installation and also either warn the user when the path is not existent or automatically create the needed directories.

Edit2:
How i fixed the problem:
I simply pressed the settings-button in the launcher and set a new, valid path.
If this does not work for you i suggest reinstalling the game using the default temp-path and stick to it.
If this works you can then change the path in the laucher for future patches

Edit3:
During today's hotfix i observed that the patcher does not save the new path at all, regardless how often i change it. So my advise is to simply accept the default path when installing and don't change it in the patcher to avoid problems...

Guys,

my patcher has been stuck at patch patcher stuck at 1/2 69.82MB/79.19MB for like 10 minutes now... do I have a mangled patcher session? I was thinking of quitting it but it warned me I might corrupt my install..

Is this just me or are other people having a weird pause on their patcher?

I'm also having this problem. Quite annoying really. Guess I'll just have to play more Dragonborn ^_^

Try closing out and relaunching the patch a couple times. If that doesn't work give a re-install a shot and let us know what happens then.

Closing the patcher whenever you get the 'you're trying to quit before install completes' message and trying again eventually works. It took me around ten attempts but it's finally worked and good to go.

Persevere!

I got stuck with the patcher as well and found that the only way I could get past it was to completely uninstall the game and re-install it. Doing this though led to a WHOLE set of other issues.

When installing the game, I actually deleted that "Temp" folder that Daggett was talking about in his post above to get past it and to have the game re-create the folder completely in my \user\AppData\Local\Temp\ directory. In doing so this helped me install the game and get through the patch scenario that Stuii talks about.

Hold on though.. as I stated, this opened a completely different set of issues. 1) The Mechlab does not display the mechs there at all but gives me a bubble video artifact that replaces the mechs thus you cannot change out the mech's loadout, swap weapons, etc. 2) DE-selecting any of the trial mechs (because reinstalling the game selects them for you automatically) causes the game to crash directly to the desktop after attempting to de-select 2 or 3 and then even restarting the game from the crash and attempting to select/de-select mechs still causes you to re-crash and 3) I can't even launch into a match because the "Launch" button at the top won't change from the orange color. I've tried to select mechs but there is no actual "select" over the mech for me anymore and thus can't get into a game!

I have pretty much given up on this game at this point. I understand that this is a beta and that my feedback will help with future patches but man.. talk about frustrating!

I'm game for any other fixes anyone else can think of. At this time though, I'm pretty much stuck.

FYI, yes, I have checked my nVidia drivers which are completely up-to-date and run the following specs:

i7 920-266GHz Processor
ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58
Gigabyte GeForce 670 2GB RAM video card
12GB of DDR3 SDRAM 1600mhz

Similar issue. Hitting the button to set a custom location never brings up a dialog to choose one, and sits at that same prompt. In this case killing the launcher and patcher and re-running (but accepting the default location) gets it through.

Unfortunately the following issue remains unchanged: Sometimes when i want to start the game, the MWO Logo appears, then disappears. The patch window never opens.

If i click the link again, a window appears, informing me that an instance of the patcher is already running. Closing the process via task manager and repeating the process does not resolve the issue. The process will start, yet the patcher window will not appear.

Restarting the system or router, as well as getting a new IP does not resolve the issue.

Repeating the "start patcher - close process - start patcher again" procedure over and over will sometimes (after a considerable amount of time, say 30 - 40 tries) lead to the patcher starting.

Several of my friends reported the program behaving this way. All live in Germany like me.

Hmm, maybe i should have mentioned how exactly i fixed it:
Because the patcher seems to be unable to patch correctly when the path it uses is invalid, i simply pressed the options-button in the patcher to set the path to a valid location.
I suggest reinstalling the game with the standard path and stick to it. When this works you can always change the temp-path in the launcher for further patches.

Deleting the temp-folder seems to always make the patcher go nuts because it is unable to recreate it properly. So i would not advise to delete that folder unless you changed the path in the patcher.

I'm getting the problem when I try to install. I'll download the patch and when it finishes it will start the patch process. About 90% completion the patcher will tell me not to quit because quitting might corrupt the files. I'm not trying to quit. I haven't hit anything on the patcher. The patcher just shuts down after this and won't continue to patch. I also changed the install path to a second hard drive for stability purposes. I will try to reset to defaults and let you know.

No idea why it worked this time without changing the install location back to default.
