I thought weight classes were matched between teams prior to start.

Forget it.... that's just a pgi marketing gag!! The matchmaker takes what it can get.... (except in premade 8 vs. 8)

I'm assuming the other team was all (or mostly) LRM boats? Not that great without a dedicated spotter or two, particularly on a map covered in buildings.

Who even said weight mattered anyway? I actually find Atlases are one of the least competitive mechs in 8-mans because they're slow, their torsos are easy to shoot out, and they have horrible dependency on ballistic weapons to do any meaningful damage.
