Back in the day the game "Schleichfahrt" (predecessor of Aquanox) offered an interlaced graphics mode for machines that couldn´t quite stand up to yesterdays recommended PC specifications.

In that interlaced mode, only each second line of pixels would be called into the renderer, hence giving you only half the resulotion you chose, whilst maintaining the full pixel aspect ratio (hoping thats worded right, not a native english speaker) for double the FPS.

I figured, with all the performance optimizations going on in MWO and so many people playing on laptops without real gfx cards, having that interlaced mode be a nice (and prolly simple to do) addition to MWO!

Its basically the same as you can see now in MWO´s spectating mode, just that (if applied correctly) it doesn´t obscure things that are already in the rendering pipe, but blends them out with the effect of more juice for stuff that you can actually see!

Best thing being: It doesn´t look as bad as some people might think.
Your brain will fill the blank spaces with no cpu hunger bound to it.

PS: Don´t try google´ing for picture references, i already did and the only result that came up was a post of mine on BI forums where i said i knew the game and kinda liked the possibility of having less gfx for more performance :P
