I think a phoenix hawk sounds good, i hear it has 2 larg and 2 small lasers, i had a cougar with that load out once.

And a centurion would be nice too, one of my most used mech's from MW2: Mercs

I have to say, starting with or being able to purchase...?

I am GREAT with F2P, because if they developers are to be believed, it will be balanced like the board game, and set of 3 Fleas and/or a pair of Jenners could take out a lone Atlas.. so everyone has there place you can "Start" with anything you want.

But playing and loyalty will get you access to upgrades, and specialized clan/house tech.

I hope to start with a T.Wolf and move up to an Atlas, or Awesome. Personally like Awesome better. I love a good Atlas, but seem to come out on the better end of the batter with a slightly faster 80-90 ton mech.

perhaps like the other games you can have a choice of 2 or 3 that are within your price range... tho the urbanmech does sound pretty fun

I want to start in either a Zeus, Warhammer, Mauler or maybe a Victor, but the Victor is Davion right?

Oh and just like in my Sig..the Kodiak, yeah I could handle driving one of those, but thats a Ghostbear mech and the clans arent out yet so thats going to have to wait..

The Victor was originally created by House Davion as acknowledgement of Prince Victor Steiner-Davion who would be the first head of the Federated-Commonwealth after his parents retired (or died). Shortly before the 4th Succession War the Victor 'mech was being redesigned to incorporate the recoved Gauss Rifle technology - however, this factory was on one of the worlds captured by the Draconis Combine during the 4th Succession War. So the new Victor design is now showing up in the Draconis Combine as well.

As for my own choices of Starter 'mech I think I would like the FWL Phoenix Hawk variant that comes with the Beagle Active Probe as my first choice. Then going through the weight classes in order of preference, the original 3025 Wasp for a Light 'Mech, the 3039 Marauder refit for a Heavy 'mech, and though I doubt I will ever pilot an Assault I would go with the Highlander as my choice for an assault 'mech.

Vindicator, Hunchback, or a Locust equivalent (probably Jenner at this point). I want to start off in something resiliant enough to let be get beat on with enough firepower to put somebody down if they got in my way. Otherwise I'd like to be in a light fast scout mech generally avoid the firefights and relaying good intel for my company.

What I start out with doesn't matter as much as what will be available for purchase in the item mall.

Jenner!!! If I have to I'll steal one.

Actually it really depends on which mechs my house has, and what looks good to me at the moment.

A humble Locust would fit the bill for a Merc or any faction.

Faction Specific:
CCAF-Firestarter
DCMS-Spider
FWLM-Hermes
AFFC-Javelin
LAAF-Commando

Anything at all really, just as long as the game is fun, but if I *had* to pick one and assuming everyone would be starting off in a light mech......probably the Spider or Jenner.

Hmm...Seeing as MWO is set pre-Clan, if I decided to go with a lighter 'Mech, I'd go with a Centurion (Yen-Lo-Wang, if I can swing it), or a Wolfhound. If I had to start with a heavier 'Mech, I'd go with either an Awesome, or a Battlemaster.

Post-3050, I'd have to take up a Black Hawk (Nova), or a Vulture (Mad Dog). Depending on what's added, I might change my choices.

Either of my favorite two mechs: a Locust or a Jenner.

A number of people are going to be disappointed that their favorite mechs won't be invented for 10+ years.

Anyway, I'd probably go for either a Phoenix Hawk or a Wolfhound.
