Barring that I'd love to start in a good any-mech. Something that can engage equally at all ranges. Top of my head, things like the Battlemaster, Thunderbolt, Shadow Hawk, Phoenix Hawk... The Warhammer definitely counts even if it does run hot. Anything along those lines will make me happy.

I know, for a while they were out again (Project Phoenix), but the issue reared its ugly head and now they're banned.
Likely you wont see some of our fav's, unless the dev's get clearence for them.
It would be a shame indeed to have the game shutdown becasue of a law suite before its even begun.
yeah it would be a shame....again. Because they were gonna reboot this in 2009 but harmony gold (you should all know who they are) had to snoop their little heads into this business and make all of us wait 3 more years!!!

BattleTech Wiki - Great place for descriptions but only vaguely says when the Mech and it's variants are available.
Master Unit List (MUL) - Type in the name of a Mech, hit Search and you get a list of variants by year introduced. Would love to see this info added to BT Wiki.
Could we get the currently available variants added to the list?
Again, not criticizing anyone as I love the enthusiasm we are seeing for a game still months away from release. But information is... sorry, sorry. Didn't mean to fall back on that cliche.

But I'll start up a Merc unit with whatever cockpit I can get my shorts in! Lol

Nice. Bookmarked that sucka
When I searched for mechs introduced up until 3049, there are 762 variants (including clans mechs)
There are 828 in 3050.

Lights either a Raven as a scout, or a Mongoose as a raider.
Medium- Always loved Dervishes
Heavy- Cant go wrong with a Warhammer
Assault- A Marauder or a Black Kniggit.
All depends on what is available though. Out of those, likely the BK, marauder, mongoose, and warhammer, will not be present or if they are they will likely look like the newer resculpts which would greatly lessen their appeal to me.

Not that I'd mind piloting an Age of War BattleMech; the Helepolis, Toro, and Von Rohrs are personal favorites of mine (pity all three are extinct).
I'd love to see some extinct designs.
Toro and Von Rohrs (yes, I know ;-)) are my personal faves for fighting style.
If i could start off with a Whitworth, that would be awesome.

Those are good links, but when you're using the MUL, you need to remember that Clan machines aren't available to Inner Sphere forces at this time, no matter what their introduction date. If you keep that point in mind, however, the MUL is a great tool if a little limited in scope at this point. For what we're doing though, it's awesome.

They dont look humanoid, is why!
Such a shame that the bullet will not get bitten and a small royaltie payed to be able to use the "forbidden" mechs.
