I love where paint and the addition of patterns is headed but what I really want to know is... When can we get to painting individual mech parts. Or... When can we apply patterns to individual mech parts?

As an example, I'd love to put the tiger camo on my mech's head and arms but have the rest of the mech in a solid color. Or I'd like to run a mech in solid black with one arm or leg in a different color. These are just a few examples I can come up with.

Which would be quickly followed up with posts of...

"omg PGI is nickel and diming me to death!"

IMO we should have this option with no cost attached

no... If you already have the paint or pattern, the next stage should be just allowing us to do full applications to our mech as we have now or to just individual parts. There should not be another charge to do this. I'm just asking when we are going to get these options.

I wish, I would love to be able to paint my Atlases head different from the rest of the body, but I don't see it ever happening.

I see it at some point. We are only in phase 2 of paint and patterns right now. I'm sure we will get at least one more phase.

Its definitely possible but I won't hold my breath. It would actually take quite a bit of work to do and would delay production of new patterns. Right now they are not only trying to create new patterns but also new mechs which will need the new patterns and all of the old patterns and they are trying to increase the tempo of release. In a year or two I could see it happening but anythings possible.

I wish they would do this, it would be the only way to reproduce the original color schemes of the mechs before they brought in customization. Like the Atlas with the red body and white head, which is what the little picture of it still looks like in a mechbay, which is weird.

i allready like it as it is. Maybe a few more patterns, even simple ones, but well... it's early for that one.

What i allmost can't wait any loner for is to create units ingame, have unit colors and (custom? pretty please) unit decals and attach those to your mechs

Somehow I doubt this will happen... A lot of work goes into these Camo patterns just to make them fit each individual mech. I just don't see how it would be technically possible without completely changing how mechs are skinned. But I'm no expert.

They could keep the pattern, but separate the ligaments, allowing you to color them separately but still be stuck with the pattern .

Would be great if we could have skins/paintjobs appear on our mechs that are local files on our computers.
Each member would have/has an id. If your skin named with your id is on a persons hard drive they will see your paint job.

This is how we do it on iRacing. Because of licensing/copyright infringement and everyone wanting to have real world paintjobs iRacing has left it up to the users. Other than basic paint jobs handled inside the sim all paintjobs exist as a tga on our hard drives. tradingpaints.com hosts the files and has programs for keeping the thousands of paintjobs up to date on your computer. All of it free.

PGI wants to make money off of paint so this will never happen.

I do have 3 screens (5760x1080), a cockpit, load cell brake etc.. lol
Only problem with MWO and 3 screens is that the angle of the side monitors isn't compensated for. Everything in the side monitors is slightly distorted.
Haven't tried bevel compensation in CCC to see how it works in MWO but thats an annoyance too.
