OK, I tried to look this up in other posts and learned more about farming than John Steinbeck learned while writing The Grapes of Wrath.
Can anyone offer tips on effective, legal, team-supporting, SELF-RESPECTING ways to maximize CBill earnings in a match -- NOT to include taking a trial Mech, charging an Atlas-D, and shooting myself in the cockpit before I reach him for the defeat bonus?

Assists.. make sure you're shooting all the time and every mech you can take a shot at. That's not to say "run around and shoot everything and don't bother helping to kill stuff", that's just saying "make sure you're shooting every time you can".. and if you're not in an assault or heavy, don't overlook changing targets to help support multiple teammates when you can.
Component destruction.. things that blow off parts grants cbills a bit faster.. but then, that lowers the salvage bonus if your team wins (if they lose, you want to have destroyed as much as possible.. tough balance).
Spotting.. if you can get a target lock with R and someone from your team gets some LRMs on them, you get a spotting bonus. I think you have to be the first one to target them for that, though.. tough if you're the one doing the LRMs.
Resources in Conquest.. most matches end with a team wipe, but teams should also be aware that holding caps in conquest gets them money.. sure, you can ignore all the cap points and wipe the enemy and win.. but with 120 resources you're getting no where near as much money as if you'd had 500 resources, or 600.. or, best yet, legging the last guy and letting him gimp about while you cap win at 750.
And, of course, real cash.. Premium time and Hero mechs.. both together is an 80% boost, I believe.

Assists, Damage, and Components Destructions are always important. Capture Points in Conquest are very important.
Remember that a kill also gets you a component destruction (at least one) so you will make at least 7500 with a kill.
Salvage Rewards can be huge as well. Your team gets 2% of the value of undamaged components on destroyed enemy mechs split across the 8 of you. For example and intact LBX-10 on an wrecked enemy mech, you personally would get (800,000 * .02 / 8 = 2500). Naturally headshots and legging the enemy will get you more salvage cash than coring them.

Work with you team to maximize kills and assists
Kill your enemies with legshots and headshots to maximize salvage reward
Capture more control points in conquest mode, you get paid whether you win or lose(although Assault offers the best ban for your buck for kills & damage)
Run a high damage mech build, but not so slow that you can't hit every enemy mech to collect assists.

If you're in a fast enough mech, try to hit every enemy at least once before you begin to seriously fight. This ensures you get a "kill assist" on every enemy killed even if you could not actively harm them.
Lately I've begun using my Flamer Raven 3-L. I'll skirt through the enemy lines, douse each one in a second or two of flames and some missiles before returning to my team and actually fighting. Every match I come out with 8 or fewer assists, and what assists I don't have are due to getting those kills myself.

Easy ways:
-premium time
-hero mechs
Super easy way: combine the two above
Normal ways:
-Kill. It's better to obliterate the enemy team.. always, even in conquest if possible.
-Kill assists. Touch as many enemy mechs as possible, you earn more by doing this than focusing in killing 2-3 mechs individually!
-Saviour and defensive kills (they can be extremely rewarding but I find myself to earn them without "looking for them").
-Spotting assists (tag is useful it stacks better earnings).
-Component destruction*
-Damage done*
-Salvage bonus can be huge, provided you've good aim and you try to headshot as many mechs as possible. If you happen to find disconnected enemy players in their base or crashed ones and you headshot them, they'll provide huge salvage bonuses.. therefore if you can peek at the enemy base to blow that disconnected player, otherwise if you win the match by obliterating the enemy team you'll never earn the salvage of that mech if you leave it untouched.
* by this if you keep dismembering enemy mechs you'll earn much less salvage.. keep it in mind. It's better to hs them or core them or leg them (unless they don't have ammo in there, this will destroy side torsoes and thus less salvage).
