You have reduced my leik of mudkips.

there's no pay to win here. These things are all gotta catch 'em all perks for people who don't mind spending money on things that have no real impact on in game performance.

None of the Hero Mechs are the 'best in class', most are actually inferior to the standard builds. Pretty Baby has an energy mount in the HEAD ferchristsake.

Flame is my favorite hero just for quad arm PPC's
(Plus I don't mind funding PGI, and the Cbills don't hurt

COmmando better than Pretty Baby? LOL ok. I see what's going on here.

No, seriously. I have killed 7 'Pretty Baby' mechs with my Jenner and I suck on ice in a light. I mean really suck. Imagine a mech with the huge CT hitbox of an Awesome that's only slightly faster than an Atlas and the weapon load out of an energy-only Cataphract. People pilot Pretty Babies out of pity for newer players to help them pack their kill stat. It is quite possibly the worst of the Awesome variants and the Awesome is the weakest of the Assault mechs.

I've run into some solid Deaths Knell (commando Hero) pilots. With the 2x energy hardpoints on each arm they're nasty to circle strafe against. They do however explode catastrophically when shot with an AC20 and 3x6srms from my Atlas. Hurrah for the absence of lag shields.

Desperate is the OP’s need for attention, didn’t you see the extemporaneous “much” on the end of his topic? And the manner in which he fabricated a faux crisis, casting himself as the hapless victim of corporate greed and unprovoked aggressive marketing tactics.

Normally they used to send out an email on patch day. That is fine with me. An email every week or two telling me what they did is not an issue for 98% of the world.

I really wanted the hero Awesome to not suck. Instead they decided to give it complete crap for hardpoints. Ive tried to build something solid on the XL400 and its just complete crap. The 9M is a better chassis, and thats not saying much.

How is that pay to win?

Hell, if you going to buy a mech that will get you a leg up when you start, buy a Cent D (zombie) or Hunchy SP (decent brawler). Or if going down the hero route, the Flame (fast striker) or Ilya (fun setups) are both pretty damn good. None of those mechs are pay to win, but will give you a nice start over the rest of the crowd. Or even better yet, just buy some premium time....

Anything that is part of the Awesome family of mechs by definition is the opposit of overpowered. It's just another hero mech. Vassago is correct, the Deaths Knell is superior to the Pretty Baby in therms of Hero mechs. Both are fairly terrible though. The best hero mech is the Ilya. Hands down.

Pay to win is a lame statement. This game provides 0 advantage to a "paying" player over a player who decides not to. It's more Pay to configure. People complain that premium time and hero/founders CBill bonus is pay to win, but it's not. It allows you to buy more equipment or at a faster rate, but it's the same equipment available to everyone and they still have the same total hard points as everyone else. I haven't paid all that much so far and I already have a bunch of spare engines and weapons in the mechlab.

I like the idea of going to smurfy's coming up with a build and then going in game to equip it. I don't have every engine/weapon yet, but I'm getting there.

Lol yes.. Camo is Pay 2 Win..

Look, he is blending in perfectly with the background!. I can't see him!! Damn that pay 2 win *******!!
Oh wait....
*turns on thermal*
Now i can see him. So much for P2W..

And if you think the Pretty Baby is pay 2 win.. Then i think you need to look up the concept of what pay to win actually is....

Yeah it can fit a very large engine.. but it has the worst hardpoint selection of all the Awesomes..

A hero mech with those stats vs. a starting mech for a player who doesn't pay real money.
I wonder who has the advantage.

Founder gonna founder though. Keep those blinders on.

are you serious, a hero mech with what stats?? terrible hardpoints on possibly the worst mech chasis in the game?

for 6k mc a player can buy 3 mechs that would destroy a PB in a 1v1 any day

Sorry but my AWS-8R has been plastering Pretty Baby parts all over the map(s) so if you are calling it a ptw item, can I have some of what you are smoking. Sure it looks nice, but performance trumps looks anyday. As far as emails go, they aren't really blasting you with them, more like one a week, which as others have stated you can cancel them.

<------ Not a founder so that isn't gonna stand up either. Sounds like a troll, smells like a troll, must be a troll....

This is actually a good sign, since the quality of the QQ on the forums is inversely proportionate to the quality the game.

There's no professionalism in the art anymore, no training, no care in craftsmanship. It's tragic really, they just boot em out from under the bridge and tell them to go forth.

Maybe they prefer volume over quality these days, anywho, the statements made by the op are over powered, kinda like my p2w Snake console decoration. It makes me p2w right?

Just got an email about the "HUGE February Patch!", and it screamed desperation.

I thought this game was doing well. Do they really need to blast my inbox with ads about new things I can buy or grind forever for? I'd much rather they focus on the actual game mechanics.

But if this is a sign of the state of the playerbase / income, then I don't see this game succeeding much past beta. (Why are we still in beta anyway?) I see this game going the way of SMNC very quickly. Cranking the Pay 2 Win dial to 11 isn't the way to make this game a success. Unfortunately, it seems as if this game will be doing just that. I for one find the F2P but P2W model to be one of the worst things to happen to gaming in general. It's sad to see it destroy yet another of my favorite franchises.

Ha! Let me see you got an email that you subscribed to? Well you can turn that off. Boom no more emails.

P2W? What? Pretty Baby? Any Hero Mech for that matter? The xtra C-Bill is very nice, but you have to earn some to get some, meaning you would actually have to USE Pretty baby (or any Hero Mech).

Guess what? ANY, thats right, ANY mech in the game is available via the MC purchase. A New Player can buy any mech including the Hero(s) just by purchasing some MC. Any Player can ALSO use that MC to buy Premium Time so ANY mech gets you bonus C-Bill and XP.

Yeah, I guess Hero Mechs are P2W...because the only way to win in one is to own it and the only way to own it is to buy it..makes sense in a crazy kinda way...

*shakes head*

Some people are afraid of snakes. You have a snake. Therefore people will be afraid, thus granting you a battlefield advantage.

I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but I'd actually like to know what happened in a patch. I'd rather not have to dig through the forums to see what changed on patch day.

If anything, I'm a little disappointed that this email came out 'late' -- it really should have come out during or immediately after the completion of the patch so I knew what to expect when I logged in yesterday without hitting the forums.

I can't see how anyone would slag communication from the developer. For months people QQed that the devs weren't keeping them informed, and now that they are, others are QQing.

Sigh.

I won't even get into the whole MW:O vs P2W scenario -- I think everyone above addressed that more than adequately.

Sorry PGI and IGP -- no good deed goes unpunished.
