just thought I'd share this, because I imagine if I'm having this much trouble, a thousand other people probably are too.
I haven't played mwo in 4 months. I'm a mwo founder and BT junkie. do IT work so no shortage of technical proficiency.
I reinstalled the game today to see the progress. Launched the game, it was windowed. I alt-entered to get it fullscreen, but everything was blurry - so I adjusted my graphics settings to my resolution (1650x1080), and set the game mode to 'fullscreen'. Nothing happened, game was still blurry. I figured I just needed to restart the game to set my resolution, so restarted - no dice. I changed the setting back to windowed, nothing changed. then back to fullscreen. still blurry low res screen stretched to fullscreen. I wtf'd and gave up.
customized my controls the way I remembered I'd liked them from a couple months ago. launched a game with a trial mech, and **** my joystick (logitech extreme 3d pro) is inverted. I'm useless, ask ingame if there's a way to invert the joystick without quitting, someone says 'no'. I waste 10 minutes in game, use the mouse poorly (a mouse to control a mech? really?) run into lots of walls, and die.
I go out to the options menu after that game, and find my problem. aha! 'invert Y-axis' checkbox. surely that's it. click it, launch another game.
Now my mouse is even the wrong axis, and the joystick hasn't changed. I literally just flail around shooting at the sky, get pissed off and quit.
I google 'mechwarrior online invert joystick' and find a few threads on here with user.cfgs that are supposed to ??? help invert the Y axis for the joystick?? because apparently that's just not an option in mwo anymore? (I swear I had it working several months ago!)
I use a user.cfg file and launch a game, and now my mech is constantly turning to the left. I exit, calibrate my joystick, launch, no difference. I come back, read threads more carefully - apparently there's something unique about the logitech extreme 3d pro - so I try different config settings for my joystick. still turning left constantly.
at this point I've wasted about two hours and am just annoyed (with a game I paid for, and genuinely want to succeed.) I feel like most people wouldn't have even had the patience for half of the troubleshooting steps I went through, and that worries me.
I guess I'm just uninstalling again, and will check back in in a few months time, but wanted to share a play by play of my two hours, in case any dev finds it useful as 'beta testing' notes or whatever.
Thanks guys for keeping the BT world alive and all you do!

Well, ehm.... this game is SUPPOSED to be played with mouse and keyboard.
So far there are no "supported" joysticks at all, so everyone who plays with one has to live with some drawbacks, be it work to set it up, or something in those lines.

proper joystick support will likely be implemented later, its just not their top priority. No word yet on how much later, but since the game is perfectly playable with mouse and keyboard just hang tight! I too am waiting to use my CH sticks

Have you tried inverting your Joystick from the Device Drivers/Software instead of in the game?

No shortage of technical proficiency yet you fail to catch on to the fact that the mech lab runs in a window and changing the resolution only affects the in-game resolution............
Nothing you've mentioned sounds like a fault of the game. No offense intended.

Well... I'd say it the fault of the game, but Mordynak is right: the game spawns one window for the mechlab and another for when it switches to using the CryEngine. The mechlab doesn't do full screen today, maybe in the future it will.
As for joystick support, I think it has been deprioritized as nearly nobody uses them let alone actually owns one anymore.

I wonder what Razor are doing while we/they wait for some built-in JoyStick control? hmmmm...

This is news to me. In previous iterations of the Mechwarrior all people talked about was their newest joystick and how many buttons/macros they could put on it. Joysticks is synonymous with mechwarrior.

Regardless of if the game is playable with a mouse, or your opinion of the prevalence of current joystick use by PC gamers, the joystick *did* work / was supported when I played 4 or so months ago. That's the part that's frustrating/confusing.
I did catch on? But in any case it's not the job of the person playing the game to 'catch on' to anything, I'm sure the devs would agree. Just trying to share my experience with the UI as constructive feedback.
