I think some of the resentment comes from those of us who HAVE beta'd various things in the past.

It's a very basic thing, you follow the rules, you post where you're supposed to post, you do what you were instructed to do. If you cannot be trusted to do even this [and yes, even just 'making a mistake' can breach that trust in a Beta environment] Then you should be removed, and replaced with someone who CAN do what is being asked of them.

This isn't a 'free demo' of MWO, this isn't happy funland time, this is work, this is helping the dev's break this game and making sure that it's ready when the game releases in July, in all it's glory.

TLDR. Yes, BETA R SRS BUZNESS

Seriously though, not being able to follow basic instructions is a clue that you either can't or won't follow them. Not saying that means they are stupid, could also be lack of impulse control, or simply not able to think logically and thus not realize the 1st step is to always RTFM, which in this case would the email.

In other words, I need to go out into the 95+ heat and mow grass so I thought I would start a topic after seeing 2 deleted posts from people who can't read.

What do you mean by " 'Wrong Forum' posts"? Do you mean people who post Website Support questions in the General Discussion? People who ask about the Mat Cat? People who post utterly random topics of discussion in the MechWarrior: Online threads?

... or is it the people who post questions about their current experience in the Closed Beta on the Regular Users' forums...?... because complaining about something like that is the same as openly stating there is a dedicated forum for Closed Beta Testers, which would be a NDA violation. I assume they would "frown upon" you openly posting the fact that there's a fully-functional, hidden backdoor forum for Testers Only.

So, point of clarification please?

I know there are plenty of people who don't put their posts in the right category because they haven't read through the introductory stuff, but I don't know why, all of the sudden, this thread here got flooded with comments about NDAs. It seems like NDA was brought up here, in this thread, for a reason... could it be that you mentioned "the email?"

When it comes to the beta i agree, anyone that breaks the NDA on the forums obviously didnt read it. The NDA is obviously easy to read if you get in im sure they send you the NDA to read, or take you to a NDA page of some sorts. So if someone agrees to it, and doesnt follow it, they should be removed.

Generally once you click the button that says you were accepted into the beta [how I've seen it done for other beta's] it takes you to a page that has the NDA in a scroll box, you can read it over [though most I've noticed actually seem to skip it] then click 'I have read and agree to the NDA document' you click the check box, then you move on to downloading the client.

There are alot of people that skip over reading the NDA... I'll be honest, these days I tend to skim, just incase there's something that's changed. But most NDA agreements are the same.

In the end, the biggest breach of contract is something that they cannot always track, and that's who's seeing the game out in the open during a closed beta. Hell I was at a friends house while he was closed beta'ing Star Trek Online [I was also in said beta... but he didn't know that.] The fact stands, there are a ton of variables.

He was talking about a few threads about stuff from within the beta that were posted here earlier, which would be a direct violation of any NDA (especially one so strict that you're not even allowed to say that you're in it.).

But is there a "right forum" for Beta Testers, an entire forum for them specifically?

I thought thou shalt not talk about Beta Forum...

The beta testers selected don't seem to have been selected based on any sort of criteria other than knowing what MechWarrior is and having played other MechWarrior titles. I highly doubt many of them realize the legal implications or even care about the NDA. When you have 1000s of beta testers there are going to be leaks, torrents, and all sorts of other crap going on. And god forbid someone else uses your PC and loads the MWO icon on the desktop and plays the game or someone at your work place looks over your shoulder and takes a pic with their smart phone. This is the #1 reason why most NDAs don't hold up in court. I think not being able to say you are a beta tester is a bit weird.

Sadly, it's not an honest mistake. An NDA will clearly state where you are allowed to discuss or provide feedback for the Beta. Most forums would have a ***CLOSED BETA FORUM*** in big bold letters and clearly labeled as the only place you may discuss the Beta.

NDAs are about the security of information. They are what allow 3rd parties to provide a wide range of services in the corporate and government worlds without a risk to compromise those clients. A breach of any NDA is serious business and not allowed 'second chances.'

All of the above are the resonsibility of the signee for an NDA. Why is someone else using your account when you have another company's sensitive information on your computer? Why are you reviewing or using said information in a public environment? Why didn't you read the NDA?

Sorry, an NDA is the stopper that plugs leaks and problems like this. It gives a legal means of pursuit and is often held up in court. For a Beta Test an NDA also has the bonus of being able to file copyright infringement on any leaked footage from a beta tester as it isn't released to the public and therefore excluded from the fair use clause.

People make honest mistakes, but I am surprised if their isn't an offical forum for the beta.
