Who out there has some sort of experience from armoured military vehicles in real life? APCs, tanks, armoured self-propelled artillery, whatever.

To me, one of the neat aspects of MechWarrior is that it reminds me a little bit of the army. It's not quite "World of Tanks" (which I never played), but it's still similar. The ability to move a turret independently of where you're going, the ability to use night vision and heat vision (even though it's far inferior to the modern tech) and a lot of similar principles in maneuvers. Especially missions with a lot of sniping behind hills, with gauss rifles and AC20s, it really takes me back.

I was a gunner on a tank in the Norwegian cavalry. Anyone else out there with relevant military backgrounds?
