So if ya need, i have a bunch. well any model that was made in the 3d world anyway. including MWO XD unfolding an atlas was a pain compared to the Direwolf

do you have the .obj(s) for the summoner? That's the only one I had trouble with.

With a little bit of effort, you could roll up paper or use straws for axles and make movable legs are arms. That would be cool - I'm inclined to try it myself. A bit of a break from my cardstock gliders. xD

I used pencils at the torso that lets it torso turn 360...hmmm....may be fun to try that at the leg joints.

These are pretty cool... but I'm wondering if there is a way to get these 3D printed.

People left right and center are doing MWO stuff, but my Battletech roots all start with Mechwarrior 2. Having a bunch of minis ripped straight from that game would make my 9 year old self's dreams come true.

ESPECIALLY the turrets and buildings. I know that the turrets are pretty basic, and the same can be said about some of the buildings, but it would take me right down memory lane.

May I also ask how you're able to open and tinker with the old Mechwarrior 2 files? I have no idea what kind of software I would need to use. The thought of being able to rip out the old Mechwarrior 2 maps and make them into actual maps for Battletech use would be right up my alley.

If you'd rather, I still have the .obj files. I could post them somewhere if you'd like.

That would be cool, but can I also ask what programs I would need to open those files?

I haven't had a 3D art program since Corel Dream back in the mid 90s.

"Blender 3D" for the .obj files, "Pepakura viewer" for the .pdo files. They are both free for download.

That's some good info.

Could you please also tell me what was needed to poke around in the guts of the Mechwarrior 2 files?

You know the old adage about giving a man a fish.

ah, that indeed is the question. Problem is, I messed around with those .obj files years ago, only recently did I realize I could make .pdo's out of them. Too bad, i've forgotten which program I used. I may muddle around my stuff a bit, If I remember or come across something, I'll let you know.

I'll take you up on those OBJ files, if you don't mind. Can't seem to track them down in the files.

I know it's been a long time since I've done anything with this, I almost forgot I even had this topic. But I thought it might be fun to put direct links on a website for easy access to downloading the models: http://stingrayproductions.myfreesites.net/mw2-paper-models
