Just had this happen to me as well, River City. I think the SRMs are instantly exploding on the surface of the water and doing splash damage to self. No ammo cook-off was involved.

He isnt in water, which is kind of confusing.

That's correct.

Sadly as the picture shows I'm not even close to the water

Actualy now that i look at your SS closer, the esact spot your standing has a puddle of water, theres a set of water puddles along the large buildings courtyard, but theres no way standing in water too shallow to cover your commando toes will trigger that.

Yea, just dropped 9 volleys of SRM36 into an Atlas, 2 into his back before he even realized I was there. It said 371 damage after he killed me.

Your screenshot doesn't load for me so I cannot comment, was just confirming that streaks do have splash damage and that contact with water or other obstacles will make them explode.

It's not lag shield, i'm sure of that. But it could be multiple issues, I don't seem to do nearly as much damage to the back of a mech, If I group fire all my srms at once they seem to do very little damage no matter where they hit. About a week ago a caught an Atlas from behind, he was undamaged, I walked right up to him and hit him with all 5 srm6's, his centre torso armour went yellow, nothing anywhere else.

It is possible that the firing location from the commando's arm is "close enough" to the water that it would explode. Some mechs arms have a higher point of reference that would avoid such things. I doubt this is an intentional bug, but the firing location and the distance to water may need to be looked at... or it's smarter to "learn your mech" since this can be an issue going forward.

In any case, firing anything but lasers near/on water is a recipe for wasting your ammo at times.

Srm don't always register damage even on non-moving targets. Range is any, from 5+ Meters and is a random event. It is not lag, as i ping 30 and the targets have also been low pinging.

My mech wasn't even close to water, also it happens for catapults and ravens every so often as well, not sure about the other mechs but I've encountered it on the commando raven and catapult so far

If it was an ammo cook off, then it should have registered as so. I've also seen another person this happened to, on river city where he killed himself with his own streak srm apparently.

I have same problem. I think it has been around last 3 paches. I see a lot of fired srm-s go through targets, doing no damage. Mostly when there is lots of fighting.

If "testcrew" could test it better( non-blind crew) then they would have noticed it before pach was introduced.

START TESTING - testcrew !

P.S. My "damage done" stats are unstable because of that. I use closecombat mechs. So DO YOUR JOBS ! Make it work , again !

I have recognized it too. My Stalker 5M has weakend with 5 srm6. They do not make much damage i mean as before. But i read in forum Januar 2013 that the dev has recognized it and that they will fix it. But i dont know that this new patch has fixed it yet. I think the next patch will fix it. Thats annoying that my alpha strike of 5xsrm6 doesnt make much damage as before. i will wait for the next patch. Greetings Mechwarrior :(

major issue with this. and im pretty sure its not netcode because i fire my srms and watch them hit, but not damage or red reticle and a fraction of a secon later i fire my lasers and they register.

oh and it feels that i get no hit registration a lot more with artemis than without it.

Using a SRM cat with Artemis, I was behind an enemy Atlas, about 20m, precisely
in his back. I aimed for the mid core area, belly button I guess, and all SRMs
passed through him and hit the ground in front of him.

Quite hilarious really, but yeah. It sometimes happen.

Though I have to admit that, if memory serves me correctly, it happens
when I aim for the torso/leg junction...
