Not that I hate the show or anything but... why is this pony thing EVERYWHERE I go. Not even my giant robots are safe for crying out loud.

Now srsly, the thing is Derpy wasn't the original name, it was given to her by the fans, which is probably why there's such a ruckus about it now...
I also doubt that it's actually about those kinds of concerns. As I said, the combination of name, appearance and behaviour is somewhat controversial, not necessarlily offensive, but I guess someone could take it the worng way, which is obviously what happened.
In fact it's that combination which leads to all the trouble, so I doubt it's going to happen again anyway.

No, do NOT let there be pony. I don't watch the show and have nothing against it, but the fans, oh God, they're terrible. There are a billion other bigger fanbases out there, and I never see any one of them insert themselves and clamour about their favourite thing everywhere. Only the pony fans do it, and it's very annoying. I don't want to see mechs with HELLO LOOK AT ME I AM A MECH CONTROLLED BY A PLAYER WHO WATCHES MLP written all over it. This game has a certain atmosphere, and it will be ruined with that.

What I don't get is that why can't you people come up with original and not so obvious ways to implement your stuff in here. Pony pictures on mechs is a bad way to do it. Tons of rainbows, pink colours, unicorn horns is also very, very bad. I've seen a couple pages before a black on yellow emblem with the silhouette of a pony on it. That combined with a proper, non-loud colour scheme would be good enough, and it would not bother anyone.

Think about it, what if sports fans also clamoured for designs related to their favourite teams get implemented? Do you want Atlases with their torsos coloured red proclaiming MANCHESTER UNITED with Nike logos and player names on the back? What if everyone else followed the custom? What if people wanted to implement all sorts of religious or ethnic symbols, colours etc on their mechs? There would be no point in having this game as a Battletech game any more.

On the side, I am impressed. Usually people go on a hate rant then don't bother to ever look back or take the heat they give others. To that, kudos.

Anyways, MLP may have an affect on some who play the game...but so what? Let them do as they please. Some will appreciate it greatly... but for those who don't...

Define everywhere ! On this forum, there is this single topic which mods and devs don't really pay attention to to begin with.
Fact is, no one in here has specifically asked the devs for such paintjobs to be created, and since none of the devs seem to be interessted in the show/ this topic it is also very unlikely to happen.

What this sounds like to me, is that you are affraid of some subconcious influence on the devs, which may originate from this topic, which, to be frank, pretty much sounds like bullshit to me...

problem would proly be syncing that with all players on a server... imagine everyone using a different custom paintscheme...
considering the amount of players you're most likely going to encounter over time, you would end up with a folder just as big as the game just for paintschemes. unless they manage to sync it quickly enough to make it temporary for a single match.
I wouldn't expect much more than a few presets and few exchangable decals to be included at most. At least at launch, even though I think a hell of a lot money could be made by selling the ability to upload/use custom paintjobs, I suppose that would be something people would be willing to spend money on... I know I would, if I managed to make a decent paintjob that is lol


Anyway, back to ponies, you find a lot of great stuff, browsing on deviantart!!!
