Congratulations! You've realized why arguing on the internet over what people like is stupid, and you did it before you barged into a thread about something you don't like to figure it out! I would award you a medal if I had one.

Are you talking to me? (sorry I`m just curious)

In retrospect, that seems a little really snarky, and probably indicative of me needing a sandwich, but yes. Your last paragraph is pretty much the breakdown of every argument on the internet ever about liking something. It's all just so petty. You're a good man.

Trekkies vs Star Wars, that sort of thing.

I actually would present you with a medal.

I think the important thing here is that while derp is all fine and ok, we keep all those filthy herps the hell out of our herpa-derp, and away from derpa-herp in general because seriously those guys suck.

**** the haters, lets just go back to posting ponies. I was thinking it would be cool to see some pony/ anime nose art. I'm not much of an artist myself though.

I suddenly have this urge to apply pony imagery to the sides of mechs like the bushwacker, madcat and cougar. The ones that have that sort of jet fuselage design going on.

Wow, are you guys all 8 years old or something? A lament for the MWO community.....

I enjoy these threads, especially when people like you bring the hate and later end up becoming bronies too.

I'm a former hater turned brony btw. There's far more cake and happiness on this side of the internet.

Aresye, you can disabuse yourself of the notion that I will EVER be a 'brony'. Not even a lobotomy could make me sink to that level. Since you can't ALL be 8, or gender-confused roodypoots, I must assume that you are all trolls that have found something so improbable and unacceptable to espouse just to call attention to yourselves, kind of like the guys you see walking around with a deathgrip on their britches in an attempt to keep them from falling the REST of the way down. But do continue, your attempts to justify yourselves is so very amusing. Your parents must be SO proud....

I'm sure your parents are likewise going to include the line "Our child is so Aspie that he trolls threads on the Mechwarrior forums to ensure their continued integrity." They must be honored to have produced such a gem as yourself, SaberCut. Considering you're the only guy to actively seek to impose your antics on an entire thread full of people, I find it quaint you fancy us the trolls here. You're a transparent and sad little man. I hope you get help.

Glad you see it my way, Grayson.

You assume we are trolls?

We hate trolls, however many people find the concept of men embracing cute and cuddly things as a threat, and react defensively, mostly with troll-like behavior. It goes against everything they thought they knew growing up (pink is girly, rainbows are ***, and Axe body spray will turn me into a chick magnet). Bronies are a direct offense against that mentality of thinking, which is promoted by things such as, "the man code," or (as stated above) media and advertising.

You've grown up thinking a certain way, and those that go against your viewpoints and the viewpoints of the socially accepted standard, are public enemy #1.

Let me also point out this method of thinking is completely moronic. You and so many others close yourselves out to things you may enjoy simply because of stereotypes and prejudices you've built up since your middle school days. Think about it! Where does it state what makes a man manly, or non-manly? I know the bible doesn't say pink is girly. Face the facts. You are surrounded by body-building ads that want you to buy their supplement so you get ripped. You watch football on TV when the alcohol commercials show men engaging in "manly stuff." Then of course you and your friends probably read the man code too, further pushing you into a state of disillusion.

You might be surprised many bronies have adopted what I call, "the fight club mentality." You aren't what you wear, you aren't what car you drive, you aren't your f***ing khakis. We're the all singing, all dancing crap of the world.

Simply put, watching a cartoon show (I'm not going to say girly because that's based on the stereotypes set forth above) does not dictate who you are, or what you do.

I myself fly in military helicopters for a living. I am a crew chief that instructs junior crewmen. I am a NATOPS instructor, ensuring our squadron adheres to the mandated training and requalification of all pilots and aircrewmen. I work closely with the commanding officer to ensure his squadron isn't doing anything they shouldn't.

I am also a rescue swimmer, and last year was deployed from the helicopter to assist in the rescuing of 8 mariners who's boat caught fire, at night, in the open sea.

My parents are very proud of me.

There's also 3 other bronies at my squadron, and another 8-10 coworkers enjoy the parodies. One of those bronies got his first rescue while he was off duty, and helped save 2 girls who were drowning in a rip current that pulled them out to sea. My pilots know I love ponies. All my coworkers know I love ponies, and those that don't like it, just simply don't like the show. There's absolutely no prejudice or stereotypical thinking when it comes to it. Nobody makes fun of the fact I enjoy ponies in my off time :)

So ease the tension. We're not forcing you to watch the show. All we ask is that you give it a try, and keep an open mind while you do it, without fear, and without prejudice. Who knows? You may actually enjoy it, but why close yourself off to something you've never tried. If I did that, I'd have never become a licensed skydiver.

Hugs?

Hey Aresye, just so you don't think that you have the market cornered on 'manliness', you should know that I was in the Fleet during Desert Storm, and have done my bit 'for King and Country', so I have earned the right to have any opinion that I deem fit. Also, I am a commercial fishing Captain with close to 5,000 hours logged seatime, and nobody has ever had to drag MY **** out of the soup, but bully for you.

And cake, be tough online. You too zendric :) see you guys on the field.

You have not entitled yourself to being an ******* to strangers through service. I'm sorry, where did I imply I was tough? I was just pointing out your sad, bigoted hypocrisy.

Mod Edit: Let's dial back the hilarious, yet insult/swear filled pictures eh?

The problem that most bronies have with haters is that they think that the 'ALPHA MALE' way is the only way for a man to act. Ie they must be stronger, harder, more viscous than the other guy to get ahead and to TAKE what they want. Anything that conveys "weakness" is to be shunned and demonized. Which ironically mean that's only a few can truly be alpha while the vast majority are something else entirely.

But more to your point, I do agree some bronies take their fandom to a fanatical degree and some do it to be attention whores. But that's the same with any hobby/fandom.

I was personally ok with your post until

Quote

Your parents must be SO proud....

That's a direct attack not only on us but our parents as well, seeming indicating that they were not able to "properly" raise a "man". Aresye reply was in direct response to a challenge that his parents or even his community would shame him for his interest in a children's show regardless of what he's done for his nation and community.

I mean, just to play devil's advocate, does having an interest in a remarkably niche geek sci fi brand about giant robots make someone better or worse? How would this compare to someone that buy tons of comic books and goes to cons? How bout fans (boys and girls) of the recent fandoms of Harry Potter and Twilight that dress up for midnight book and movie release? Are these fanatical fans also worthy of your contempt?

Personally, I watch the show for entertainment it has some smart funny writing and musical numbers that are well composed. Aside from that they try to teach moral lesson which, unseeingly, will influence how the next generation will think. Much like how the old cartoons from the 80's like GI Joe, Transformers etc had a great influence on the current generation of media maker in Hollywood.

Heck even this latest iteration of My Little Pony was due to Lauren Faust (the reboot creator) remembering how cute the toys were but how LAME cartoons for girls were back then. Her philosophy to writing has been it doesn't matter if the audience is for boys or girl as long as the writing is smart and entertaining.

I'm not even going even going to suggest watching it, it's obvious you're at sea much of the time and probably have limited access to youtube or other streaming sources even if you had the inclination to watch an ep or two. Instead, I'd ask before the next time you type up a response, to think, "is this even worth my time to reply?"

Lots of bronys are trolls, let's just hope the ones on our forum aren't.
The worst thing on SC 2 trailer was top rated comment: "Thums up if you got redirected here from PonyCraft ." :D

You're lucky I enjoyed SC 1 more. :)
