I know it's subject to tuning and this is not the final state.

Still I'd like to give my feedback on the current state.

For my taste the emphasis on damage in relation to actual kills and kill assists is too much.

My playstyle of trying to pinpoint on weak spots and focusing fire with team mates is punished in terms of the combat score rating in the current implementation.

It kind of encourages either LRM/SRM/LBX boating (anything that spreads damage as much as possible so the target doesn't die before you took off all it's armor everywhere) or going high risk and not go for the kill shots but instead tear away a target from the arms to the center torso in order to do as much damage as possible.

I agree ...with the score as it is at the moment light mechs (and/or maches doing scout duty) are at a severe disadvantage.
At the moment I can climb into my Commando and kill an enemy mech and assist with several others and nevertheless get placed last if the other members are heavieer mechs with more weapons (and doing more damage), even though the other mechs didn´t do as much assists and didn´t kill a single enemy

Not only Lights hava disadvantage, as Parker said..with PPCs Gauss and large caliber ACs you don't deal much damage - 200 to 400 dmg seldom more in a Atlas simple because i did not use any missile weapon.

As Hank Hill would say, "Yep."

Killing a mech cleanly through the Back CT with no wasted firepower has you ranked low.

Oh well... no one ever changed their playstyle to a less useful one simply based on a higher score on a stat that doesn't actually represent the outcome of the battle... right.... right? Why are you guys looking at me like that?

Exactly right, besides, why would you want to artificially enhance your score. This only puts you higher on the ELO and when MM3 comes into play, more likely to be facing players you shouldn't be. Play the way you do, and the system will balance itself.

I couldn't find the thread and post in the general discussion forums anymore to just link it.

Someone proposed to weigh the points accounted for damage done according to the part of a mech that was hit.

So Head obviously would get you the biggest multiplier. Then CT then ST's, then Legs then Arms. I personally would go so far as to say that there also should be seperated between Back Torso and Front Torso, Back Torso giving more points, because when you get into the back of an enemy you most of the time did something right. Also doing damage to parts without armor should be weighed higher than doing damage to armored parts.

As I said I prefer someone that pays attention to his target info and focuses on the weakened spots over someone that just sprays and prays anytime.

And what about us pathetic lights? In game play I am constantly getting blown to bits in 2-3 shots while trying to scout or cap. I realize I'm not the best pilot or gunner for that matter but in resource gathering I would think having to spend your time capping would be worth something. I agree with xp being delivered on HOW you kill the mech vs overall damage done.

Well perhaps i shall eat my words i just saw a commando unit deliver the high damage in my match. 500+ wonder if he was using alot of streaks? I didn't get a good look.
Either way, it would be nice to get more xp for "time in cockpit" and not just get the mega xp for mega damage. It just seems to me that unless your packing heavy dealing damage you spend alot more time in the cockpit of lighter mechs earning xp than the heavier ones.
Again, I'm not the best pilot/gunner but geez!
