I don't even need cbills and I do this. Earns about an extra 50k per match.

Until they reintroduce repair and rearm there is no need for millions of c-bills per match ;)

The OP probably won't like this advice, but if you're short of time and need to earn max C-Bills, buy a hero mech with MC (real money). The C-Bill bonus afforded to hero mechs is very nice.

He's going to hate that advice.

Actually, what that represents is an interesting issue. what if MC were worth more? right now, if I were to by the top-of-the-line Atlas, i would have to spend £20 to buy the MC. That one bit of DLC is worth close to £15 on it's own.

DLC for £15? just one mech? no way, no how. that is the cost of a game on it's own! now a mech for £5? that works for me.

So if you make MC worth more, make it have more value (as such) then I would consider buying more.

And as a consequence, I would want to spend it on the items I feel would get me the most bang for my buck.

I'm confused...is there more to do in this game than just playing matches? For anyone to suggest that the actual only thing you can do in the game is some kind of grind is confusing as heck.

I don't even see how its possible to get bored playing the same mech all the time when even free players get 4 tryout, unmoddable mechs...right?

If all you earned from a match was 10 c-bills, I think your argument would still be flawed...you are still playing the game...there isn't some magic number of c-bills you need to accumultate before the game becomes fun...or rather, if there is, you're doing it wrong.

Oh and I've only just re-installed since open beta started, played two matches and made 1 million total so far...now given that I have not activated my premium yet...I have no idea why I'm making so much more than everyone here...especially since I suck pretty hard.

There is more to the game than the game, as it were. I have loved, and always will love building mechs, trying out load-outs, fiddling with as much as I can. As many do. The Mechlab is an intrinsic part of the experience.

And it's not about the game becoming fun- clearly it already is as I am playing it as often as I can- it's about achieving your ambitions. I want to work the ladder on my Cat. the only cat I have. because I have bought the basic pilot upgrades and now need another variant to keep that particular train going. but I am half a million short. And when I buy my next cat, I will have exactly no money.

Great.

And I have no idea why you earn 5 times as much either.

It would depend on the person. I make $8.50 an hour. It would take me say 4-7 hours depending on wins/losses to earn the cbills I need to buy a certain mech.

How much money is my time worth? Is spending $5 to save myself time worth my money?

For me the answer was yes. I used MC to buy my first couple mechs and convert XP to speed up the leveling process.

There is no grind in this game. Content is not unlocked sequentially, you are not "forced" into a particular chassis or variant to advance through the game (compare with World of Tanks). There is no segregation by tiers. There is no "research" to struggle through to play a particular mech.

There might be some changes when community warfare comes out in all its glory, but between now and then we have months, several months. :-)

Once you get better at the game you'll start earning more c-bills from damage and kills/assists. Cataphracts were the third chassis I worked on and usually I had earned enough to buy and equip the next variant before maxing the basic skills.

It might be an idea to work on a light or medium first, although they can turn out quite expensive if you are going for XL engines, Endo-steel and Ferro-fibrous armour.

Yes. there is grind. clearly there is. if you want to unlock pilot skills, you need xp. and money. and GXP. While the tech might be available to you from the off, the skill trees are not.

That is all.

Personally I enjoy playing the game, and while the early game was pretty grind-y it was entirely tolerable for me since I didn't really know what I was doing until I'd saved up several million c-bills for my first mech. With the Cadet Bonus implemented this is even less of an issue.

Once I got my first mech's basic skills unlocked, I had enough for the second one, once that was unlocked I had enough for the third, etc etc. The main exception here being heavy and assault chassis mechs, which IMHO ought to take a good while to get the cbills for.

Right now it seems like a decent reward per match to me.

Pilot skills are nice, but one can play a perfectly viable game without them. That is all. ;)

Not sure what other hobbies you have, but all of mine require either a monetary or time commitment, often both.

Basically you don't want to pay and don't want to play/grind, maybe a sandbox game would be more appropriate for your play style?

Fair enough. I am obviously wrong.

I just feel sorry for the peeps with not much time and no money that it's going to take a month to afford another freaking mech.

The have an option for that its called MC, and they have been having sales here and there. I play everyday and earn about 3 million a day playing. I however have nothing but time.

Dude, at 100,000 Cbills a match, that's a million per 10 matches. That means if you play an hour a day, not a big deal, you can get a new mech, usually entirely tricked out, every 10 days. It's fine.
