We've had a few threads about mech variants, the mechlab, so on and so forth. There isn't an official thread for it, so I figure I would make a Mechlab thread. Post any variants you plan to use when MWO comes around.

Looks fun, but I will wait until I can tinker in the MechLab to make my variants..

So pumped to see what I can create, and what the community can create.

Why is everyone assuming the next assault will not be the same tonnage as the other two please?

Edit: I ask because raven/jenner = same weight, centurion/hunchback = same weight

Here is my Dragon, which should be available to me on launch. Using a standard engine for surviveability. It is a basic multi-role mech that does whatever the team needs at the time. Only 2 crits are left over.

"Dragunov"
Dragon DRG-1N
Value: 5,498,560 C-Bills
BV: 1,182
---
Vlar 300 Standard
Endo Steel Structure
9.5 tons Ferro Fibrous
2 Double Heatsinks
---
1x Ultra AC/5 (+2 Ammo)
1x ER Large Laser
1x SRM-6 (+1 Ammo)
---
1x CASE

Here is my harasser mech, designed to scout ahead for enemy mechs, run back to the pack, and start plinking away at my enemies. I will make a good annoyance that will take my enemies attention away from my friends.

"Ruffian"
Jenner JR7-D
5,872,185 C-Bills
BV: 1,032
-----
Magna 245 XL
Endo Steel Structure
7.5 Tons Standard
5 Jumpjets
2 Double Heatsinks
-----
4x Small Laser
1x SRM-6 (+2 Ammo)
-----
1x CASE
1x Guardian ECM

And lastly, my Catapult. I removed the jets for a bigger and fatter engine. Has alot more armor and ammunition. The downside the enormous cost, however. Will probably make this my "Elite Founders" mech.

"Darkstar"
Catapult CLPT-C1
14,184,235 C-Bills
BV = 1,387
-----
VOX 325 XL (86.4kph)
Endo Steel Structure
13.5t Standard Armor
4 Double Heatsink
-----
4x Medium Laser
2x LRM-15 +4 Ammo
-----
2x CASE
2x Artemis IV FCS

Still fiddling, but this is what I'm thinking

"Grenzer"
CPLT-C1 Catapult

12696200 C-bills
BV 1346

Magna 260XL
11.5 Tons standard armor
Double Heatsinks (no extra, just the base 10 in the Engine)
4x JJ (the standard)

1 LRM20 (1 ton ammo)
2x SRM6 (2 ton ammo)
4x Medium Lasers

2x CASE
3x Artemis IV FCS
1x Guardian ECM
AMS (1 ton ammo)

Here's another program to add to the list http://quickmech.wordpress.com/ It has a nice interface for quickly showing you where each piece of equipment is. (Right click to add a weapon)

Why was the moved to Off-Topic if relates specifically to MWO? Strange.

@Enaris - I had a similar design planned, with an LRM-20 and Dual SRM-6's. Although that LRM will only be getting 6 shots of ammunition.

Hrms, point. I'd likely be better served reversing the ammo (2 tons LRM, 1 Ton SRM). That or maybe dumping the Guardian, that will depend on how it works in game.

I'm still learning the various MechLab choices (The real ones, not the stuff I learned in MW4) and the tech availability, but this is what I came up with:
"Grazer"
CDA-2A Cicada
BV: 1421, C-Bill: 8,289,867
Pitban 320 XL
4.0 tons FF Armor
Endo Steel Structure
13x Double Heatsinks

11x Medium Laser (5 left torso, 5 right torso, 1 head)

Guardian ECM

Set this up in the QuickMech someone else posted. The theory is that this Cicada is very fast, and very agile: It slips around cover, dodges in, shreds an enemy or two from behind, and is gone before they can return fire or the Cicada overheats. The weapons cool while the Cicada moves around a couple more hills, before coming back around the other side and opening fire again.
...On the other hand, I get the feeling this setup is far better on paper than it'd work on the battlefield. The painfully thin armor's gonna mean that a single slip-up from the pilot is a death sentence, whether it's getting spotted or overfiring one's own weaponry, forcing a cooldown. Also, it's expensive as all get-out.
Anyone know the standard armor load on a Cicada? Sarna tells me "3/Star Slab" but I don't really know what that means. (3 tons of standard, perhaps?)

Keep in mind that loadouts will have limiting factors such as tonnage, critical slots, and weapon hardpoints.

Until the actual mechlab is available the type, number, and placement of hardpoints for the majority of the mechs will be unknown and left to speculation.

Considering that this is now in the off-topic, might as well do unreleased mechs too. ;) 3053 can't come soon enough!

"Warhawk"
Bushwacker BSW-S2
5,548,432 C-Bills
BV: 1,297
---
Core Tex 275 Standard (86.4kph)
Endo Steel Structure
9.0 Tons FF (160pts)
10+0 Double Heatsinks
---
2x SRM-4 (+2 ammo)
1x LB-10X AC (+2 ammo)
1x TAG Laser
---
1x Guardian ECM

Carries the more armor then most heavy mechs, with the standard engine greatly improving durability. Get in close, keep your TAG on your enemy while running circles around him. Fire the LBX into the rear armor, while chain firing SRM's to prevent his reticle from ever settling.
