Hello there

Since my last CTD my MWO patcher isn't opening properly.

What happens is, the program starts and the mouse-cursor shows the typical loading sign.
Next, the Mechwarrior Online Logo appears and vanishes again, cursor still shows loading.
Then the patcher should open, you know the whole thing with news and "searching for patch" and stuff.

But this doesn't happen. Taskmanager says the program is open but it stops at around 10k ressources used and nothing happens.

After 10-20 tries the patcher might open and I can play, but crashing or simply quitting the game and it takes 10-20 tries again.

Also, I have to use taskmanager to stop the program before I can make another try, since when I just try to open the patcher again while nothing happens a message pops up and tells me there is already an instance of the program running.

I'm pretty frustrated and even tried to reinstall, nothing happened.

Anyone experienced this problem or knows what could cause this?

Thanks for reading.

Same here. I'd love to find out what IP the patcher is trying to connect to. Then I can check to see if there's a problem with the path. I ran into some problems this weekend with getting to the forum... my browser flagged it as containing malware. I wonder if my ISP and/or someone is blacklisting the servers and blocking my connectivity?

Check out this post for a workaround. It bypasses patcher ang starts up the client directly:

@OP: Install these in order:
1. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86: http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5555

2. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=14632

3. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x86/64: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=26999

4. (Win7/Vista)Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1: http://www.microsoft...ails.aspx?id=22
(Win8)Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8: http://msdn.microsof...y/hh506443.aspx

5. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=17851

6. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=30653
Oh and If they ask you to repair, do so as the runtime files can get corrupted/damaged

u don´t need install the x64 stuff!

MWO is a x86 app^^

@OP
are u from germany ? if yes, the ISP telekom and isp who rent server from telekom have issue with the backbone connection over the atlantic.

the " -nopatch" startparameter on "mwoclient.exe" can help u to cennect the game.
just make a shprtcut from the mwoclient add the parameter and play.. so if u need to patch and u cant run the patcher today u can use a free vpn tool to bypass the ISP issue.

Thank you all for the replies.

The workaround did it and I could play but since patch day is near I couldn't stand the thought having to try 10 times to download the patch.

@Acid Phreak actually your right, I am from germany,I'll try other over-sea programs, might be that they have a problem too, thank you :(

@EternalCore thank you for the input, I actually did that when I had a non-MWO related Problem ^^

means this: might be that the people that have the problem have to install those files too, I can't tell :P

Now what I did was cleaning EVERYTHING of MWO off my PC and reinstalling again (the deinstaller left some data). Patcher didn't load when I first tried, "great, didn't work" was my thought, but after the patcher was done everything worked fine again.

tl;dr reinstalling again did help, might need the x86 C++ stuff

Yep this was exactly the same here but I know how to fix that.
Delete your Shader folder. It might be working instant but sometimes you must wait before the patcher jump to 22,5mb.
It is really stupid because before this CTD it never happens and I don't install something new or upgrade any driver

But I have a new problem after the latest MWO patch, the patcher dl all data and die on the last 4th patch process on 25% progress. NICE cant play at all.....

Update!

A friend had the exact same problem but the "delete all" method didn't work for him.

What we found out was pretty surprising. He also had a CTD and after that he got the... Bug I guess? He mentioned he tried linking MWO to Steam to take screenshots. Now what was interesting was that, after we closed steam (completely, not just minimize it) the problem was solved.

So if you did link MWO to Steam, this might be another source of the Problem.

@SerpentrasD Thank you I will keep that in mind if it happens again. And if I remember correctly there was a shader folder in the remaining MWO files I deleted.

I guess I'll post here since PGI is at the cutting edge of support from four decades ago.

This game used to launch. Then it started hanging and the patcher process never does anything when I try to launch. I've reinstalled MWO from scratch and it's still back rearing it's ugly head. The link above with the -nopatch above doesn't work. It always wants to launch the patcher. I'm looking at a the MWOPatcher.exe process that's been running for about 10 minutes now and hasn't done a single thing other than show a messed up splash screen. I was playing earlier today no problem, not it won't even load.

It finally did something. MWOPatcher.exe has stopped responding.

Same problem here. Support lets you do the same steps with reinstalling C++ runtime libraries and MS NET framework but it doesn't help. Uninstalling and new installing helps for some days but then after a time bam same problem MWO doesn't load.
" -nopatch" does nothing.
Have no steam.
GM said it may have something to do with DirectX but I've got already the newest version and drivers seem ok too.
Maybe there is something to this provider thing but why should this be the reason for a program to not load ? Or for the patcher to become inresponsive ?
Cut your network connection and try to start mwo. You get a message if its unable to establish a link to the server.

got the same here.
some time when i close the game client, i get the problem that the game freezes and after the last freeze, my patcher doesn`t load anymore.

before the recent patch that was no issue, but now it is. first i thought it was due to the "christmas server down celebration thinggy", but now x-mas is over and i still have this problem, so i had a look at the forum again and found this thread.

edit: tried several times more and suddenly its working again... probably until the next crash...

so.. step at a step

- go to Bin32
- delete PatcherLogs folder ( the whole folder includes 39 files 1 folder )
- run MWOClient.exe or bootstrapsentinel.exe ( its in the same folder as your mwo exe... dont use your windows shortcut )

(you may must repeat that step... before you want to start MW:O )

thx to Gravity8595

for me it did work..... below the list i did try and what didnt help at all :

the story of trying to find the problem... :

- reinstall MW:O
- closed everything besides MW:O ( including processes like all the crap what starts with win7 and isnt in use )
- deleted all my anti virus programs
- removed all firewalls
- gave MW:O exclusive access at my router
- reinstalled all my drivers ( see below i did even reinstall win 7 )
- started it with my admin win7 account ( it starts with admin rights at my normal account )
- reinstall win7 again
- tried just to install MW:O ( nothing else just that ... since its my gamer pc it wasnt that hard :P )
- installed WinXP .. 3 normal games after closing MW:O i couldnt start it again .. ( rofl )
- delted cache cookies everything you can imagine
- tried to play MW:O in another network ( my neighbours WLAN .. since i know his PW.. that were the last thing i could do.. i didnt believe it will work.. but i wanted to try it )

( not to mention that i did install everything what is needed too... lol )

did fail :)

Yesterday that helped.
Today... not so much.
What else can I try?
