Good luck with that, then. My advice would be to go put something together on Comstar or NGNG and post results for us.

Its a fun mech, hands down.
Not going to get you top of the charts, but running down lights and mediums in it is good, and there are a couple of good builds with it, but it is hard to build it / play it.
Run from assaults unless it is hit and run, and hunt lights / mediums with ease.
=)

I wanted to comment on this the other day, and I'm surprised there are 8 pages of posts now.

Pretty Baby IS the worst waste of money this game has to offer. That said, I bought one knowing full well it cost me $25 and the hardpoints are crap.

The reason? I wanted an xl 350 for starters, but I am also a huge fan of the Awesome class, every variant with the 9m being my go to favorite. My 9m has too much XP for me to bother with running it anymore, and having a C-bill farmer of a close cousin to that is -awesome-

2 srm 6's in the arm, Lrm 10 in the chest, ERPPC, and ERLL and Tag in the headslot.. you will do just fine.

It isn't as good as the 9m, but it is "good enough" if you like the awesome class.

As a side note, I like the 9m and PB because of the arm launchers. Their limited tubes, 2 or 4, sort of spurt out SRMS and allow you to correct their trajectory out to max range, no artemus needed. Combined with being able to fire a PPC every cooldown puts decent damage downrange.

My favorite variant is 1 flamer, 2 small lasers, and 2 srm2 packs.

So, are you superhuman or do you miss A LOT (then overheat)?

I kept yammering about them releasing an Awesome hero mech so I definitely shelled out the cash for this one. It's a very good buy for me because it already comes with a 340XL engine and DHS (meaning I don't need to toss more c-bills on it).

I quite like it, to be honest. I use 2 ER LL, the LRM15 (2 tons ammo) and 2 SSRM2 (2 tons ammo).

Weapon #1 - ER LL (RA)
Weapon #2 - ER LL (LT)
Weapon #3 - SSRM2 (x2) (LA)
Weapon #4 - LRM15 (RT)
Weapon #5 - TAG

I fire with (1) then once the torso aligns I fire with (2). Spam your homing weapon (LRM for long range and SSRM for short) to up your laser damage and TAG is for those pesky ECM targets. Even if they ECM me I'm fine with fighting using 2 ER LL and moving at around 70 KPH (no efficiencies yet). I am used to playing my Fang with 1 LL in the arm and 1 in the torso though.

It's pretty much ER LL at any range (no heat pretty much, 1.4 Heat Efficiency) and missiles for any range. I'll probably try out an SRM version later.

I have all the heroes except the double dragons.

My PB is basically an over grown 4SP as I use the 400XL, 3 ML and 3 six packs with arty.

Assault: YMMV
Capture: works like a charm
Competitive 8-Man: Leave it in the garage as there is far better choices in the current form of the game.

i love it...

it takes real skill to run it properly... i'm running it with 5 weapon groups...

1 - ERPPC
2 - LARGE PULSE
3 - 2 SRM4 + ARTEMIS
4 - LRM15 + ARTEMIS
5 - TAG

I don't know about one of the worst, but if numbers are any indication, I see way more Ilya Muromets out there than Pretty Babies. The problem with the Awesome is that it's a bit too broad, so snipers can get easy hits on it. The 9M with a big engine can be effective. The 8T is a decent missile boat, not that there is a call for those very much. The 8Q has the potential to be devastating, but is hamstrung by the castrated Dual Heatsinks.

Over price and the paint job looks like S/M wall pepper. Save your Cash and just buy a Awesome with Cbill and paint it your self.

From what I hear, it is a good mech (not great).

BUT! The skill curve for it is bad. I hear you need to multitask 4-5 different weapons on it at the same time to make it effective. This is likely because Hardpoints of the same type are spread out in the torso in arms. Energy: 1 in the arm, and two on Torso (but one is in the head). Missiles are the same but two are in the arm shooting from 4 tubes.

If they moved the Head Energy to the Side torso like the other one is, and moved a single Missile to the LRM launcher, the mech would be better and usable by players who have less than 3 arms.

If you brawl with your baby see yourself out of the thread, if you decry the multiple srm volley see yourself out of this thread, If you say something stupid like give me a centurion instead kill yourself. For 14 srm tubes there is no more effective mech than the awesome. Most accurate srm volley, More armor than your stupid mediums, the speed to run from the Assaults which is the only ones you need to dodge, Weapons to engage at range and to melt face with at close distances. This isn't the best mech but calling it ineffective demonstrates YOUR inability to play with a mobile assault.

This.

It's also funny, because when you see one in game, it basically means that the pilot doesn't understand the game mechanics, to the extent that they spent over $30 on a terribad mech.

Oddly, I top the board easily 70% of the time I drive my PB in a winning match.  I wouldn't take it to 8 mans,  but its not as bad as evertone makes it put to be.

I'm always amused when some people say "<insert AWS variant> is nothing but an oversized hunchback" like it's some type of criticism. Most agree the hunchback is one of the best mechs, pound for pound. So being compared to a hunchback is actually a complement.

But to answer the OP, yes the PB is an excellent mech, arguably the best of the AWS line. The PB and 9M are the only AWS chassis worthy of consideration imo.

Every time I had seen one in an 8-man the pilot was cocky that they were in a fast moving assault and were immediately put down on the front lines ahead of their team. I've only seen 2 in-game, both of which however were completely wrecked by my Cataphract in a duel.

Is it good? In the hands of a capable pilot absolutely. Is it worth the money? I'd just get a standard assault variant if I had $30 worth of MC to burn.

I started playing MWO with AWS 8V and 8Q,
PB is my third AWS to unlock Elite tweaks and first hero mech
PB is good as support, second line mech
with LRMs+Artemis,TAG, ER PPC, ER LL, AMS and BAP it is good addition to the team
Damage might not be overwhelming (at least for me ,with 300-400 average and 600+ personal best)
but with good hit&run technique you will do decent damage and help your teammates with Taging and LRM salvos
Fun of taging ECM Atlas for you team is priceless ;)
With fist running you will be also able to loose most LRMs which could pounder your slower teammates
so buy it only if:
it will be one of your AWS collection
can't afford/want wait to get 9M
enjoy hit&run fight rather than brawling (with XL in close range you die fast)
can spare real money (think how many hours you play MWO and other paid box games to see if it is worth your $)
like conquest where PB speed is beneficial
like to snipe with ER PPC
can team up with some Atlas (me & my brother with PB and ECM Atlas seem to cooperate nice enough to be top two players in game from time to time (both being medium skilled pilots))
care about C-Bills bonus (i average some 120k with PB with some 70k I had with normal AWS (9M excluded))
like paintjob, i called my PB "Tacky" ...
