Why is my gauss ammo showing up on my damage report? can i have some clarification please?

when you take a critical hit on a location and your armor is gone (you're down to structure), it has a chance of hitting internal stuff. If the critical hits your ammo, it explodes and does damage itself. Therefore, if you have ammo in say, your legs.. and the armor is gone and someone crits your legs, your ammo might explode. The damage transfers to the next section of your mech, so if you had a damaged CT when your ammo in your arm blew, it would transfer to your torso.. if that had ammo, it would blow and transfer to your CT and kill you.

That's why they made CASE. It stop ammo damage from passing to the center torso. Though, if your last leg takes a crit with ammo in it, that will be a "kill" as it blows off your last leg.

Yup, though Gauss ammo doesn't explode. The gun itself explodes and deals 20 damage to the location it's equipped in.

However the gauss ammo can still be destroyed through a critical hit.

I think the gauss rifle itself is erroneously recorded as 'gauss ammo' in the damage report

A friend of mine had the same thing the other day. Took a critical hit to the side torso where there was only Gauss ammo, no gun no other ammo, and he went down. The death report said his XL engine was destroyed, and that he was damaged from a Gauss ammo explosion. I'm starting to wonder if maybe the ammo is exploding.

And , wrapping it in an inch of duct tape would further increase its explosive power.
